  1. @BabyBoomer - I've seen things like this happen where somebody types in the quoted area, pretty clearly without realizing it, or without intention, in several other postings, often near the bottom of the post. So I'm willing to be believe that it was ineptness, rather than a deilberate attempt to put words in your mouth, when he typed "Old pcis 5 years ago fat now". And I kind of suspect @nickNYC won't bother to comment on wher that happened here. (The forum software normally will not copy quoted material when you Reply to a post; I had to go to the referenced quote, reply to that, and copy and paste it into the quoted area, but I think it was important to show the context here). fake
  2. The site owner commented on this in another forum and explained that is when the automated backups occur. In order to get a consistent snapshot of the database, it needs to be held unchanged while that's done. The backups used to happen at 3am eastern, but there were enough west coast users still active that after being barraged by comments, it was moved an hour later.
  3. Albertson's owns Von's (in Southern California) and Safeway (in Northern CA); at the local safeway they don't have saran-wrap for the keypad, but they do have a container of alcohol wipes. They will not let me bring my used paper bags into the store, but they will let me go out of the store with the items back in the cart unbagged, and I can bag them myself at my car, if I ask the checker (and show the receipt to the security guard).
  4. Also worthy of in-and-out-of-jeans
  5. I also grieve at your lost. Somehow just marking it with a frowning-face doesn't seem enough for me. Strength and love to you, Mr. Kow.
  6. I'm sure some guys regard it as a Repast of your post and are greatful for the yummy reminder
  7. Reminds me of a joke that I've posted here before: What's the difference between a dress maker and a baroque trumpeter? Well, the dress maker tucks up frills ....
  8. Do you think the recipients of the loan might be less resentful when (hopefully) it's safe to resume, you have a couple of sessions where each one has the fee being 50% loan repayment and 50% new cash? Or would that still sour things?
  9. I didn't mean to call out @Oliver or JJ to make them feel bad. I get the impression that *some* people have been able to see the google-housed pictures since they've got some "likes" or "applauds"; it seems to me that it would be worth the effort to figure out why some of us can and some of us can't ... I tried using firefox (on which I am logged into my google account) just to see if I could open one of the forbidden pictures, and it gave me the same error. Any other ideas? I don't log into my google account on safari, because youTube got the idea I was primarily interested in shirtless guys, which was a bit embarassing when I had to open it up when giving talks in my graduate classes; so I use firefox for g-rated browing, and safari for going on adventures ...
  10. The image in question is this:

  14. I'm getting these with some frequency in postings by Oliver and JJ - the posting shows up as a blue square with question in the middle and when I control-click (mac, safari) on it and chose "Open in new window", it gives me the following G o o g l e 403. That's an error Your client does not have permission to access URL /proxy/1mWKlKrAepkW9Wl5zdCW2n8i- ceB7kzPKRGzZw6LbOGbEEAAG67pZwNFCURnqt3ywzOjWsQcEH6EKVg7su-liMsUU0I3b0qpFV712Y2xoGkp6UT92l6j2vJbrgJ6uJ2K6okhbLE from this server. 15. Another instance of something I see as being true, but I'm not happy about and hesitant to "like". Traffic on the freeway also seems reckless and at least 15 mph over the posted speed *on the average*. I normally don't like to toodle along in the slow lane because my car is severely underpowered (it's the honda imitation prius, which breaks fine but takes forever to come back up to speed), but I'm doing that just to avoid the total crazies.
