This is a pleasant change from the usual photograph of a WW1 officer. Lieutenant Edgar Henry Garland (1895 - 1973) in military uniform, and naked photographed by S P Andrew Ltd. of Wellington in 1916. The badges on his cap and the lapels of his coat are of the New Zealand Flying School.

In 1920 Sam and Gus, were two Canadian lumberjacks felling trees in the forests of Manitoba when they fell in love. Photo was taken by their like minded colleague Albert.

A young sailor in the Royal Navy. It was taken during the Great War, at the photographic studio of Thomas A. M. Mann of 2, Havelock Road, Hastings, Sussex. The star on his uniform indicated it is his No.1 Dress Uniform he is wearing, not his everyday work uniform, and not his white ceremonial Uniform.

Mike Disfarmer (1884 - 1959) A couple from Heber Springs, Arkansas. I suppose a lot of the people in his Heber Springs collection would have known each other. Assuming this couple are gay, I wonder if they were known as such to their fellow subjects, or just to Mike himself?
