  1. Interestingly, I think the example you have provided could be objectively seen as an assault - albeit one that may not cause continuing trauma for most people. The inner thigh could be considered an erogenous zone, and the question becomes why an individual would be moving their hand to that area. Given the power differential between the two, it is possible that a court would make a finding that an assault took place. More of the context might be needed for that finding to be made - and this is on the balance of probabilities rather than the criminal standard of 'beyond a reasonable doubt'. The ongoing effects of experiencing an incident like this would depend on the individual's own history - it could be quite traumatic if that person had been sexually abused in the past, for instance. And the degree of trauma would need to be determined subjectively, since it affects each person so differently.
  2. Would you be referring to John Saints?
  3. What I'm writing here is not about the Spacey situation per se, but instead, is more of a general observaton. I think one of the biggest changes over the past number of years is that society no longer distinguishes as precisely between subjective and objective assessments of allegations. A person may subjectively feel that they experienced abuse, and be badly traumatized by it. But from an objective point of view the incident in question may not actually amount to abuse. A person's subjective assertion of abuse may be because they had been objectively abused by someone else in the past, or for any number of other reasons. I know someone who once accused a coach of sexual abuse because his arm brushed against hers as they put gym equipment away with a number of other students. That was the complete extent of the interaction. There was no prior history or context that would suggest a sexual component. On an objective level, a reasonable person would not see this as a sexual act given this context. Nevertheless she missed a month of school because she was certain that the coach was signalling his desire for sex with her by the accidental brush between their arms. Her trauma was very real, but objectively, no act of abuse occurred. Her allegations ultimately had no objective foundation and there were no repurcussions for the coach. But that was almost 3 decades ago and long before social media. Had this happened today it is possible the coach's career could have been ruined because there now tends to be a lack of objectivity in thinking, at least outside of the Courts. Every allegation of abuse must be taken seriously and be investigated properly. But it does not help anyone if a subjective assessment based on a person's feelings becomes the benchmark, or if it represents the extent of society's willingness and ability to think critically. It is far too low a bar to set, especially for matters with potentially significant and life-altering consequences.
  4. So. Hot.
  5. Nice find! I have been many times to the British Museum but have never tried the restaurant. 30 pounds for tea, with all those treats, is a great deal. Maybe not something for every day, but I would be tempted to visit multiple times during my next trip if the food tastes as good as it looks.
  6. Was this the scene where they sat down in a field to contemplate where they'd go for their next drink? All kidding aside - a very well-acted movie, and I still think O'Connor was the perfect choice to play the young Prince Charles in The Crown. He did a great job in that too.
  7. There's usually a lid for every pot, even the $1000 pots. 😉
  8. I think for some people it is. Using social media as the primary form of communication has depersonalized interactions and provided more freedom to express stronger emotions than a person may do otherwise. And it also provides ample opportunity for those who enjoy stirring the pot and then sitting back to enjoy the mayhem they have encouraged. It seems that kindness has become harder to find in this new age of online relationships.
  9. Surprisingly there are still quite a few stars of that era, if you consider the Golden Age to be 1929-1959. But not too many from the 40s like Lansbury, or earlier. There are a couple of child stars still alive who began acting during the silent era. And if I recall correctly, both Ann Blyth and June Lockhart are alive and in their 90s, and both started their careers in the 1930s. I believe Eva Marie Saint started in the 1940s, as did Janis Page, who is now a centenarian.
  10. I would say so. Both in Atlanta, and both the same height - though weight is different. And both hovering around $2 billion for a massage... LOL
  11. Aspirational pricing?
  12. If you want to see a beautiful medieval town, I would recommend a day trip or an overnight in Bruges...
  13. What makes the release official? Does he notarize it and give you a certificate?
  14. I heard that Dionne Warwick became the host of the Psychic Friends Network after one of them correctly told her the way to San Jose.
  15. I understand if you miss them on parade you can see the very same ducks later on in the restaurant, a l'orange.
  16. Don't they emerge en masse every 17 years or so? Or am I thinking of cicadas?
  17. And easy to find because all roads lead to him.
  18. Zivkovich was a football player in the CFL, and played for the Calgary Stampeders. Apparently still alive but not sure if he is still sailing...
  19. I think this goes way beyond his orientation. The fact that he is gay, bisexual, straight, pansexual, or whatever, is not the issue. He was fired because of extremely poor judgement. The fact that he wanted to have sex with his employer is not the offence here - the offence was recording this desire in a very salacious manner and without any forethought that it could become publicly available. While it has no effect on whether he can physically still report the weather, his public image as a representative of that company has been destroyed - not because he is gay, but because he publicly dragged his employer into his sexual fantasies, which should have been kept completely private.
  20. I get what you are saying, but putting oneself on a webcam is not doing something behind closed doors. Once a camera or audiotape is involved, those doors are flung wide open.
  21. Why aim for a six-pack when you can have a full keg?
  22. I think she looks great with the grey.
  23. Gay pilots? Couldn't be. Next you'll want us to believe there are gay flight attendants...
  24. According to Google Translate he apparently has a 20cm hard 'pika' full of milk....
