So, I went to see him today based on a previous (but closed) thread about him. Before I say anything  I want to acknowledge:
a) In the YMMV world, I know that I typically won't get good mileage.
b) Rene was really kind, polite, and I really like him and his tone - in person and in messaging.
c) Therapeutically, this is one of my favorite massages in LA area.
 
So, I reached out to him, he was friendly and prompt, and gave 2 90 minute options - $300 for therapeutic, $400 sensual. In spite of the price being what I felt to be steep, I decided to go for it based on the reviews on this site. He was running late for our initial scheduled time (I had to drive out 1.5 hours to see him), but it seemed like it would be worth it.
When I arrived, super kind, super friendly, again, I almost feel guilty writing all this. We begin the massage, and well, I'm draped, which I wasn't expecting, but thought, no problem. He was fully clothed, so I thought, maybe it's something that we warm up into in the sensual department, given that I'm expecting to pay $400. During the massage, he was usually positioning to be out of reach, but it seemed like it was mixed messages, so wasn't sure where things were going. I'm not a grabber, so I just respected what seemed like the boundaries he was creating. 
Before long, he said "well, take the time you need to get dressed". Usually I don't say anything, even if I don't like how something went, but this time I had to, I said, "Oh, is there no happy ending?" I felt stupid saying it and feel dumber writing it. But I wanted to point out the discrepancy somehow. Again, he was so polite, and he said, "Oh, I don't do that anymore, I'm engaged now." So I asked if it would be charging a different rate. He said he'd take $300. To be fair, he looked like he felt bad about it, and said "How would you like your happy ending?”, but obviously I felt awful at that point and politely declined. Now, i doubt he didn't know about his limitations as an engaged person before we started messaging and he gave me the options, but I didn't think about that until after. I just assumed that it's a new thing and sucks to be me. Now, after thinking about it, it seems strange to me that he didn't know that before we agreed on a time. It also makes me feel even worse, that I'm apparently so ugly that even a mechanical HE wasn't worth it.
Once again - I feel badly about saying anything "negative", because sincerely, there are people who come off as douchebags, but nothing about him rubs me that way. I thought he was so kind, and even handled the confrontation so kindly. But $300/90 minutes for what I think most people on here would consider a purely therapeutic session (he occasionally leaned in so that you felt part of his leg or groin but that was it), and with what was communicated by message, this was a major let-down.
Just thought I'd post the experience for you guys on here. Great therapeutic session, though. 🤷‍♂️

I went to him years ago and he was very clear about not doing undressed/HE, so this could be a YMMV type of thing or maybe he’s gotten more lenient.

Not that I would’ve asked for it, but it’s interesting that he doesn’t do hole-play given that he has a picture of it on his profile. Thanks @hairyharry

I have used his services many times both when he was in Riverside and now in Palm Springs.
I used to recommend him a LOT.
NO more.  Chris has an issue waking up for morning appointments.  He did it to me, and he just did it to a buddy of mine.  He oversleeps and misses the appointment.
When confronted about this, he will become antagonistic.  People schedule things for a reason.  Some people are busy and miss work to have an appointment.
There are OTHER male massage therapists in the Palm Springs area who KEEP appointments. 
I suggest you look elsewhere and take your hard-earned money there!

In my experience, you can get any of the different versions of Chris described in this forum subject. You can get aloof version, tender version, highly involved clinical version…all of them, just depends on mood, and they vary. I also had several times where he would caution quiet during playful periods so that his [then-] husband wouldn’t hear(?/). I’ve had times where I wanted to go back the next day, and times where I didn’t think I’d return. So, expect any of the characters up here - but in honesty, he is skilled. There’s only been a couple of visits where he clearly wasn’t in the mood even clinically where I questioned that part, but usually it’s his top-notch skill with reasonable rates that brought me back over and over to him.

Does anyone else find the “tip optional” comment off-putting? I’m from the school of thought that independent contractors set their own prices, so tipping is like tipping the owner of a store because they sold you something. But I’m thinking about trying him out. He’s also on IG as @bodyworkbybene. Very up to date pics and he’s handsome and very well built.

I also had a great experience, but for the level of sensuality, I think his price rates are on the high side, personally. Also, 90 minutes ended up being 70 minutes. I don’t feel like I could go back given these two things, even though he was very kind and the massage itself was decent.

Agree with many of the above and want to repeat - I’m not sure I buy the ‘safety’ thing, as discussed previously in this thread and elsewhere. If it’s to be an identifier when someone arrives at your door, you could just as well ask what the person would be wearing. To me, the idea of sending someone a picture of myself, means that that picture now exists. Even the vanishing pics has a workaround by just taking a screenshot. People don’t need to know why I don’t want to share my picture to the whole world, and it shouldn’t matter if iti’s paranoia or because I’m cheating on my partner. It’s that someone thinks they can demand it. I’ve asked previously, but how many providers think it’s okay - and especially on rentmasseur - to demand that the masseur provide a face pic? 
I see no problem with someone asking if they’re comfortable sending a pic, but I have a problem with it being demanded for service.

This is similar to my experience and outlook - except that I do think he’s gorgeous, and I did have sessions with real chemistry. I’ve always said that Shane in person was really nice, Shane leading up to the session was hit or miss (with tone). I am not someone who has ever hailed a racist card (only once or twice in my life have I suspected that that might really be going on), but I questioned with Shane if that was part of it, but can’t assert it. I’m just confused  because the ghosting started after having several what I thought were great sessions, and not a single negative conversation or experience. I had started seeing him when he was relatively new on rentmasseur, and I witnessed first hand the difference in rates from session to session, and he would forget what he charged me for the same thing and get a little flustered (I always just gave what he asked and he was happy). When I referred some people to him from here (he didn’t know I referred them) he charged them completely different rates both from one another and to me. I kept going because when I went, I found him really nice and less awkward with the sensual part over time. When the flaking became regular, especially the day of a visit (and the lying became clear) I was discouraged, culminating in what I described in other posts. 

I had a less than positive experience with Benyou. The massage itself was quite good but I found his demeanor to be abrupt and a bit rude. The thing that was a big turn off was that the massage became a little more erotic than discussed but then after the massage ended and I was paying him he asked for an extra 50 dollars as an up charge. He had never let me know there were any up charges available beforehand and he was the one who initiated the activity so it really rubbed me the wrong way how he handled it. I just wanted to get out of there, so I paid it without arguing, but based on his personality and the payment incident I have no plans to return. And I after I left he texted asking me to leave a positive review lol

I saw Michael last month. He’s excellent, highly recommend. Nice space and well done. He’s a beautiful man too, although the sensual upgrade is really not worth it IMHO. He excels at therapeutic work, so go to him for that. He’s totally worth it.
So many of us are pressured into doing sensual/erotic work because the m4m market by-and-large demands it of us. Sad that it has to be this way and I think Michael is a case-in-point. Some of us are well suited to therapeutic, and others are well suited to sensual/erotic work (with or without good therapeutic work). These two are not mutually exclusive, but difficult to find in the same guy. Michael is a great therapeutic body worker.

I met with Anvar again recently, still highly recommended. I was prepared this time for his deposit request (which he will waive for same-day bookings), and since I'd seen him already I didn't mind paying it. Really enjoyed my time with him!

Well be careful around him. He is a thief. He pretends to be nice and puts on this act. I hired him a few weeks ago. He showed up to my place high out of his mind and slurring his words. I was legitimately worried when he showed up. He immediately asked to use my bathroom, and he had to be in there for about 30 min alone. I was getting worried, so I asked if he was okay. He charges by the clock, so I wanted to get my money’s worth of what I was paying him. I was already annoyed by his lack of communication and him being over 40 min late. Anyways, he comes back out, and there was this really weird metallic-like odor on him. And if you guys know what I’m talking about, you can put 1 and 1 together. Anyway, we start to make out, but he’s very clear out of it. And by that, I mean his mind is somewhere else because he’s high. We stop to take a break because he needed a water break. He goes back to the bathroom, and I can hear my cabinets open. I asked if he was okay, and he again said yes. He comes back, and he kinda passes out from whatever he was taking for about 15 min. He wakes up and tells me he hadn’t slept in over 24 hours. Anyway, we wrap up our session, and he’s grabbing his things. I see a needle and a vial of something fall out of his bag. I pay him, and he leaves. I go to my bathroom and see he went through my medicine cabinet and stole Xanax, Viagra from my cabinet, as well as my Versace cologne.  I confront him about it. He tells me I’m being dramatic, so I went to write him a bad review, and the review got erased. Apparently, they can tell rentmen that review left on their page is fake. This makes sense why he has all 5 stars. I do not recommend it unless you keep a close eye on him. Makes sense why he’s hard to communicate with as well Loboa is always high or partying as some would call it. 

I'm thinking the same. His calendar shows that he's in Chicago right now, but his GPS is still Barcelona....

When I finally got to see him a few months back, this was precisely my experience. No intention of repeating.
