  1. I liked packing the bags myself, because I think I pack them more logically than most of the "packers," who don't seem to have any training. It's a nuisance having to tell the packer what should be put in which bag. (Do I sound like an obsessive organizer?)
  2. For those in the US who may be confused, those temperatures are Celsius.
  3. My father's family had a plot in New York where it was interesting to read all the tombstones. There was a bench to sit, and family members sometimes even met there on summer Sunday afternoons for picnics with their ancestors. My parents purchased a more "modern" cemetery plot in the suburbs, where tombstones are not allowed, only brass plaques with names set in the ground. What fun is that?
  4. My uncle was killed in Germany in 1945 and is buried in a US military cemetery in Belgium, where his only grave marker stands. To the best of my knowledge, I am the only family member who has ever visited it. 😞
  5. The only time was from Madrid to Marrakech. There was nothing memorable about it.
  6. Whew! Fire in the cargo hold is one of the worst things that can happen on a flight.
  7. I would want to see a lot more photos to tell whether those two are of the same man.
  8. Well, I can say it. But I was gay man in my 30s at the time.
  9. As a native of New Jersey, I resent such aspersions on my taste.
  10. 😒
  11. The old decor looks very dated. I wouldn't have booked the old place.
  12. I keep getting viral infection symptoms (sneezing, congestion, constipation and diarrhea, lightheadedness, etc.--no fever), but the COVID test is always negative when I am experiencing them. I got the antibody test at the end of the first year of the pandemic, before vaccination was available, and I have had the original vaccine in 2021 and both boosters, and never had any noticeable reaction to any of them. I don't remember if insurance paid for the test in 2020, which my doctor had recommended.
  13. I did have that specific test at the end of 2020, because I wondered if I had had an asymptomatic infection during the year, but I tested negative for the antibody. However, although I have tested negative several times in the two years since then after symptoms that were suspicious, I wonder if it would be worthwhile having the n-antibody test again.
  14. "Why can't the English teach their children how to speak?" ("Just you wait, 'enry 'iggins, just you wait!") Oh, no!! You ended your sentence with a preposition!!
  15. In the UK they used to call it "grunge play." I knew somehow who liked to put eggs in his pockets and have the other guy smash them. I also had a friend in SF who liked to roll around on the floor in motor oil with a biker.
  16. I can get past nail polish with no problem. Lipstick, eye shadow and false eyelashes are harder.
  17. I hope that image is created mostly with the haircut.
  18. I understand. When I lived in a city, I shopped the same way you do, and I wouldn't be carrying a shopping bag with me wherever I went. Now that I live literally on the edge of the desert (it's on the other side of my back wall), all shopping is purpose-driven and requires motorized transport, because there is no commercial activity nearby.
  19. Some of the photos from the guy in Cathedral City and the guy in Austin are the same.
  20. Well, at least they put a towel on the hood of that Corvette.
  21. I have to drive to anyplace that I shop for anything, so I always keep bags in the car, and almost never forget to take them into the store with me.
  22. That metaphor is confusing. I think you would be taking the plunge up his alley.
  23. I wonder why he labels himself as "Mormon Boy," when there is nothing is his self-description that fits that image (smoking?drinking?drugs?). I did once know a young Mormon on his mission year in an eastern city, who was gay and certainly had sex with other males, but aside from the sexual orientation he fit the picture of the clean-cut traditional young Mormon. If he wants to attract a client who is titillated by the idea of corrupting a wholesome youth, it looks like it is too late for that.
  24. I hardly ever shop anywhere without taking my own bags.
  25. I suspected that you knew the lyrics.
