I've never hired him but I know him from when we worked together in another industry.

Guy wants to charge 800 for a 1 hour outcall massage. This is crazy. I've never heard of a provider charging so much to take a short drive. I get Detroit covers a large land area but it isn't that far from Ann Arbor. In LA masseurs will drive several hours for an outcall.
I get that he wants to be paid for his time but if you're offering outcall service, travel should included in the rate. Also quoting 300 for a massage is absurd. Charging 200 an hour for driving is also way off-base.
WTF is wrong with these people?

Bad things happen. Always keep your wits about you. A situation can go from making out to handcuffs quick if the hire is off in the head.
That being said, I have hired for a long time. Only twice have things gone sideways. Neither of which resulted in charges but they did involve drugs.
The long and the short of it is this: you both have a lot to lose but if one's lot is much bigger, then the other will want a part of it.
This is why I hire guys who are quality. If they have as much to lose as you, then you'll likely have minor issues.
