Public... hiring a gay man and paying him can easily be said as the same. Why not including hiring everyone in that explanation? Why just bring up straight men? Or is it the "hope" from the hiree that the gay escort may fall hopelessly in love with the hirer? That to me is more deranged than hiring a straight dude.

There are alot of biases in everyone's paradigms. For example you just said I don't understand muscle worshippers. Alot of gay men have vanilla interests or interests with more of  a pyschosexual component that they feel with the same intensity as a double fisted anal penetration. I find alot of gay men into straight men do have a psychosexual fixation. The access to the straight mans body to do the most mundane things is more satisfying than doing the most graphic things with another gay man. If you as an onlooker are missing that psychosexual component or dont understand it it can look silly.
