“Ryan Steel” is apparently running several CNBC “American Greed” style get-rich-quick schemes. All of which appear to be legally gray, nets him lots of cash and lead to a handful of public complaints. Most of the notes on clients appear to be unreliable because the individuals that leave notes are usually the service providers that feel scorned if one doesn’t engage them for one reason or another. I’ve collected a few notes over the years separating the wheat from the chaff… albeit politely. Service providers use these kinds of notes to assist in their safety so I never begrudge them for having some kind of client review methodology in place… but far too many of those notes tend to be venom from vindictive providers than indicating that a potential client could be dangerous or physically/emotionally abusive. As far as the stagnation of wages, I estimate that this is mainly because during times of economic uncertainty, most folks hunker down at work, don’t rock the boat by demanding a raise or promotion and don’t quit to avail themselves to the opportunity to earn more money for fear of being unemployed. One should never expect employers to voluntarily increase wages when there is no pressure from anyone to do so. When times are good (or perceived to be good) employees feel more confident to move around, ask for higher wages and take risks working for themselves for the chance at a better payday. With regard to providers, I think it’s a different animal. They are independent contractors that by and large provide a highly desirable product whose utility may transcend economic conditions broadly. Nothing beats 1:1 contact with another person, especially if intimacy is desired and likely. They can largely increase their rates to whatever the market can bear because they largely understand their worth and are confident in asserting it.
