Basically he was entering the United States through a visa waiver program (basically a program that allows citizens of certain countries, think Western Europe and Canada to visit without getting a tourist visa) and working (shooting adult entertainment for payment) while visiting on the visa waiver program. Since that's verboten and the authorities found out, he can no longer enter through the visa waiver program and it sounds like he has no realistic hope for a tourist or work visa for some period of years.
