Personally, it doesn't matter to me at all. At the end of the day I care about how good the services were and that has much more to do with the provider's attitude and ability than relationship status. I think your best bet is to let them know that up front if you're traveling. "Hi there, I'd be happy to do an out call at your location but do request an up front travel fee of _____. Please let me know if that works for you." If they say no, move on. If yes, then you're good to go.
