Whoever said communication is key is 100% on point. They are providing a service. Be upfront and don't be ashamed of anything there are many people both in every day life and providers who have no problems with guys that aren't HWP.

Sounds like a scam like another said cops don't work alone in these situations.

Every business has a cost of doing business. The moment a store charges me to ask the price of a shirt, or try it on, is the moment I shop else where. Unlike most businesses there is a return policy, when there isn't you tend to inspect the item more carefully. Best of luck to whatever you choose to do.

Out of places you listed only patong in Phuket has an established scene. You may have luck on the apps in the other areas. I've been to samui Tao krabi phuket Phi phi a few years ago I plan to visit again in 2019.
