  1. Did a little research. She seems pretty aware of the publishing world, literature and translation. From my limited knowledge (talking to French and Spanish internet friends) Call Me by Your Name translations resulted in slightly different interpretations of a very nuanced book, so I expect Lie With Me holds the same pitfalls. But that is OK. I'm glad I read this one. I honestly believe it would make a great screenplay for an awesome French flick.
  2. Yes it is her. She lived in France.
  3. Just finished Lie With Me by Philippe Besson, translated from French, and then I promptly put his first novel, In the Absence of Men. on my Want to Read list. If only I was fluent in French. I expect there is always something lost in translation. This would make a moving screenplay. I love a good French flick. From Goodreads, Besson’s powerfully moving coming-of-age story captures the eroticism and tenderness of first love—and the heartbreaking passage of time.
  4. Sorry, wasn't clear for me at least. Were the rentmasseur pics for lucasensual real?

  6. I was surprised reading the critics lukewarm response to Rocketman, especially after the crowd at Cannes loved it. But then, it is getting better reviews than Bohemian Rhapsody which I enjoyed a lot. So, I expect I will be happy with the movie and with T.E. as Elton John. Anxious to see it. I hope Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is good. The Oscars may love it since it is about actors. The cast looks amazing. Critics give it a B+. IMO Tarantino has a blind spot about portraying gay men (not very woke, is what they say now right?). Hope this one doesn't require to hold my nose again.

  13. I have mixed emotions about David Lynch but always liked the opening to Mulholland Drive. The opening includes clues about what's to come, what's going on in this mysterious movie. The movie is a surrealist dreamscape in the form of a Hollywood film noir, and the less sense it makes, the more we can't stop watching it. ~Roger Ebert
