I just spent two days with a wonderful client, first time booking. I took the advice from this thread. At one point I excused myself for a phone call, and the rest of the time I only looked at my phone and answered personal texts when he was using his phone.

I agree with this completely. Before I started on RM, I had met a guy who would give me $350 once a week to spend a whole night with him. It started out nicely, but after a few weeks it became a bad scene and was starting to really get to me mentally and emotionally. I had to cut him off. Blocked his number and deleted his contact. I miss the guaranteed $350 every week, but my mental health is worth more.

I typically don’t get caught up on the “why.” I always ask that the client confirm whether it’s a go or not after a delay as time is money and I can pursue other request from those who respect my time and don’t feel indifferent due to whatever factor, whether it be rate, location, etc. I do this because there’s nothing I detest more than a client not responding to then pick up the conversation hours later or even the next day as if they didn’t abandon the conversation. An escort would be naive to get caught up on the “why” in an oversaturated market (NYC) where clients are extremely flakey.

As long as they aren’t blaming me, I wouldn’t say anything and would hope the client enjoyed themselves either way.
 
I was in a situation like that once that went for hours and the guy (who was drunk and high) blamed me. That was awful.
