I only tell people whom I am seriously dating. Which in the last 20 years is exactly one person. He directly asked, and I directly answered. I feel honesty in a relationship is important. But for the most part, it’s nobody’s business. @purplekow, you threw him for a loop. Sounds like he handled it as best he could. The truth hurts, but sometimes you’re just not a match. It’s better to be truthful and find out sooner rather than later.

Me too, but for totally different reasons Their entire design model is based on building rooms in 14 foot shipping containers, and then stacking them up on site. That’s not a room I want to stay in….anywhere.

That’s an interesting idea. I was supposed to be in Vegas this weekend, but canceled. Not because I didn’t want to go or couldn’t afford it. But because my friends couldn’t justify it. There’s definitely a ripple effect that I don’t think they’ve accounted for. Charging the wealthy for luxury is one thing. Screwing over the middle class and price gouging are entirely different offenses. I honestly do think that Vegas is in trouble. I’m not sure when I’ll return.

Maybe you just stay at really nice Motel 6’s and really shitty Four Seasons. Who knows? We’re aloud to have different opinions.

I’ve stayed at both, and I’d say both of those assessments are a little extreme. Island House is much nicer than a Motel 6, and The Hacienda is no Four Seasons. No shade towards either. I enjoyed them both for what they were.

Yeah, I’d say you’re swimming in the wrong pool. Stick to the shallow end of the kiddie pool and you’ll be fine. While no one likes unwanted touch, I personally don’t think of it as "tantamount to assault". In my youth, I’d simply thought it was part of a gay man’s right of passage. The other day I was at a bar and a woman in her 70s was sitting next to me with her son and carrying on. "In my day, if you went out on the town and a man wasn’t pitching your ass you, weren’t doing it right". Her son was mortified and scolded her. I bought her a drink. At the same time, if I politely brushed your hand away and you persisted, then I would grab you firmly by the wrist and say "if you fucking touch me again, I’ll break your goddamn wrist". Problem solved. Every time. #punklife

I reached out to him recently. Unfortunately our schedules didn’t match, but he was very polite and professional in our communications.

By all accounts he was as much a genius at business as he was in fashion. Thankfully, I never really looked great in his clothes because quite frankly, I can’t afford them. I could afford, and loved, eating at his restaurants though. RIP
