Our local Kroger is a dump and I never shop there. The Trader Joe’s always have a long line outside. On the other hand, Fresh Market and The Turnip Truck are spotless, uncrowded and well provisioned. Their meat departments are well stocked with local grass fed meats. I’m fortunate.
When I spent time in Chile 30 years ago, we always left the beautiful fresh veggies in a diluted bleach and water bath in the sink for 15 minutes, then rinsed them off. Never got sick!
I disagree. I make great coffee at home and always use Organic Valley heavy whipping cream. I live in a neighborhood with superb indie coffee places, so I occasionally grab a latte, which takes them ten minutes to craft.
I agree. Hate Starfucks. The only time I’ve been to one in the past ten years was when I was in Brasov, Romania in 2018 and it was the only thing open at 7 am. It was actually superior to any I ever found in the US.
My 3 regulars would never ask for any money, and would be embarrassed if I offered it. One is in grad school and probably has saved 80% of his earnings from his “side” occupation, although he pulled his ad 3 years ago. The other has a good job and is very thrifty and the third has family money. I suppose I am lucky.
One benefit of not hiring, traveling, buying gas, eating out and drinking is the saving of money. But, oh do I long for the embrace and kisses of a lean young man!
Up until 6 weeks ago, they could be found in neighborhood hardware stores. I was able to get a box in early March and I’ve given them to a few friends in healthcare as well as a neighbor.
I’m still working out, going for long bike rides, etc. one thing I’ve suggested to people is to use white bed linens because you can add Clorox bleach to the laundry to sterilize them.
