  1. There's so much of the world to see and explore, and not every civilization has the same values. The whole point of traveling is to see something new and different. Yes, safety first. But every hotel or restaurant I visit doesn't need to have the rainbow flag on display. And as long as you don't bend over and take a dick up your ass in the restaurant, I'm sure you won't be arrested after dining. One advantage of long cruises is you get a sample of ports in different countries, especially to countries you might not otherwise have visited. And they're not going to dock anywhere that's not safe. If you like a particular country, you can arrange to have a longer vacation there in the future. And if you don't like the port, just go back on the ship and life will feel like sanitized cooperate America again.
  2. I've never sailed on Royal Caribbean. But I have sailed on Holland America, Celebrity, Princess, and Carnival. I'm not a fan of the big ships. I would much prefer a smaller Holland America or Celebrity ship. I know Holland America operates a few Grand Voyages lasting several months. I am eyeing one of those trips when I retire in 2028.
  3. Pensions are like golden handcuffs. I, too, work for local government and have a well funded pension. They are great at rewarding those who stay at the same company, cutting down on recruitment and training costs. Unfortunately, most employees don't stay at a company long enough to get the full value of their pension. About 4 years ago I really wanted to move to New York or Chicago just to try something new and exciting, but I basically would have been walking away from $2million (the estimated value of my pension if it was in a 401k instead of a defined benefit plan). If you have the discipline to save 20% of your gross income and invest in diversified assets, you'll be just as set as if you had a pension, with the freedom to switch careers multiple times which may help increase future earnings. Pensions do help reduce anxiety for people who don't like to invest themselves. If I didn't have a pension coming, I would look into an annuity for part of my retirement income
  4. My best friends retired in 2020, sold their house and all belongings that couldn't fit into two large travel trunks, and planned to live in cruise ships for the rest of their lives. They are in their early 60s. Unfortunately the Wuhan pandemic hit about two weeks after they retired, so they've been living in timeshares for the last two years. They finally just on their first cruise in retirement, in Europe. Because they are price sensitive, they seem to be alternating between timeshares and cruises, wherever there is a last minute deal
  5. "Let's travel to see different cultures, but avoid places that don't have the same values as us.". Seems ironic. If it were a hundred years ago and I had the means to travel, I wouldn't avoid countries that still had slavery or did not allow women to vote. It may influence where I decide to set up business, but it seems counterintuitive to travel the world and only visit places that have the same culture as home
  6. I'm not giving up my Platinum Star Gay stutus
  7. Would you really be straight for nine months? I prefer to travel for nine months gay
  8. YES! When I retire in 2028, I will be taking a 6 to 9 month cruise. That has been my plan for the past few years. The longest cruise I've been on so far is 15 nights. I've never cruised for less than 7 nights.
  9. Given the personal nature of a massage, the low price to begin with, your tip was not out of line. If it was a great massage, it's still a bargain at $120
  10. British English still differentiates by using the term "Oriental" to exclusively refer to people from East and Southeast Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.), and "Asian" to refer to people from South Asia (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, etc.). Only in America has the term Oriental become offensive, as we Americans tend to take offense to most things these days. So instead we changed Oriental to Asian, and assume everyone from the largest continent must be in the Far East
  11. Zona Romantica is an area of town, next to the gay beach, and contains the gay bars and strip clubs. Spartacus is in Zona Romantica. If your ship leaves early, you'll likely miss out on most of the fun in Zona Romantica, because gay bars don't open until after dinner. If you're just in PV for the day, I recommend Uber or taxi to the beach near Blue Chairs, then of course Sparticus
  12. I made sure to learn at least one phrase of French: Avez-vous 18 ans?
  13. That's why I started with "While I don't have any recommendations to hire from RM"
  14. While I don't have any recommendations to hire from RM, I do recommend you go to both BJ Roosters and Swinging Richards. They both have fully nude dancers, and private lap dances available
  15. Spartacus is a bathhouse, not a spa. But they do have staff that offer massage
  16. I've been to Spartacus twice. Had fun once with another patron, and fun once with staff during a massage. Based on above comments from other forum members, your mileage may vary
  17. Chest hair can be sexy. Although it wouldn't hurt to trim it back if you're going to have a shirt unbuttoned. It's similar to trimming a beard. Keep that shirt open, unless your supervisor says something about it
  18. Anyway... Best wishes and Bon Voyage to Brazil! Enjoy yourself!
  19. I guess we should change the name of the 2015 Disneyland Measles Outbreak to something that doesn't inform the general public about its origins, lest tourists become aware. Mickey Mus musculus Morbillivirus outbreak might do nicely
  20. Salty language is a turn off for me, unless it's used in context. Just today I switched radio stations on my morning commute because the disc jockeys started using "friggin" and "bitch" on the radio. Unless I'm actually doing the act, I don't like to use or hear the word "fucking". It's supposed to be a glorious verb, not a cheap adjective
  21. The first time I was filmed during sex, my partner did this to me. He also didn't tell me he was filming. But the video was hot 🔥 so I let it go
  22. But you knew what I was talking about, as will generations in the future. This will help differentiate this SARS-CoV-2 pandemic from a possible future pandemic with the same virus originating from a different location. The populous still refers to the Spanish Flu, not calling it the H1NQ Influenza A pandemic. And everyone still calls it the Black Death, not the Yersinia pestis '47 Let scientists classify the diseases in Latin and with numbers. Let the population refer to it by where it started.
  23. I'm with you. Although I've never been to Brazil, I went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, twice this year. I was comforted with the fact that I had already cought and recovered from the Wuhan virus, as this was before any vaccine was developed. But my mind was at ease knowing I already cought and recovered from it in the US instead of while I was in a foreign country
  24. But ask yourself: if you cought the Wuhan Virus would you rather be treated in a Brazilian hospital or an American hospital?
