So here's a thought: given the number of celebrities who have botched the National Anthem (unintentionally and otherwise) over the years, why not stop hiring celebrities to sing it? Hire someone from an opera company or a regional theater company. If hiring a celebrity is a must, then write a clause in the contract that states they don't get paid if they don't sing it nice.

I marching in high school band and college band. I was a member of the ROTC in high school and college. We were taught the National Anthem is to be rendered with honor and respect. As it was explained to me many times, the Star Spangled Banner is a poem set to music that tells the story of a victorious battle:
changing the performance of it stylistically is not appropriate.
Renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner should be performed straight-through, honoring the written music, this is not a time for interpretations.
The military teaches a performance of the anthem should take no less than 1:00 and no longer than 1:05 - many reasons include the militaristic nature of the piece, the repeated performance of the anthem throughout the military - it needs standardization, and besides it's only 29 measures of 3/4 time --- that's 88 beats, total.
So anytime someone fails the first test - play it or sing it straight without embellishing - I'm immediately turned off. It's not the occasion for artistic performance, it the occasion to honor our nation.

Redwine56 reacted to tchm in Anyone been to Ian in LA (midwestern touch)?
Yes, he`s the guy in the photos but a lot older and leaner and more muscled. Still good looking. Nice guy and good conversationalist. Massage was average and run-of-the-mill. Nude. MT allowed but no HE which does not make sense to me. You`re already naked and being fondled, why not take that next logical step. He did not get hard and gave off a Straight vibe. Nice experience but there are other masseurs who offer better massages with a lot more extras at $150, so no repeat for me.

He's well known online with an established following in coaching and fitness. Those rates aren't out of line for a celeb who's basically offering his muscle loving fans the chance to interact in person with him. I have not hired him, but I'm very tempted. He's stunning and if his massage is skilled, he'd be well worth the time and money.

Redwine56 reacted to rogerG in Johnny Weir @ the Olympics
I'm not sure what world you live in, but 1890 seems about right for the IOC and U.S. network news up until recently. It's one thing for "gay" skaters to be "pretty much" accepted. It's a whole other thing for a skinny, twink-type, 33-year-old male, who dresses like the Sultan of Oman's daughter, to be hired and paid as an official commentator for the Olympics. Clearly, someone in power is looking to the future and trying to figure out how to get younger people to watch, since ratings are not great.

Looks like he's trying to appeal to two different sectors and reaching out separately to each. Those psychology types can be quite far reaching and freaky.

You know...if it's true that he didn't do anything, then the man with him is super-talented. Imagine, that guy was able to tie himself up without any assistance!

Nah, that's not our Jimmy. Hero got a lot of mileage out of those pics. They've been on Hero's website forever. I guess Jimmy didn't get along too well with Dylan (while working at Babylon) or maybe the competition was too much for him. I hope they upped Jimmy's salary at the newly re-opened Hero. He brings in the customers. I may have to go back . . . But keep my clothes close by.
