Rate schedules often reveal companion preferences and proficiencies. Always take that into account when pondering a session with a provider.

I've done the road trip thing in the past before and it's fun! I can't say my profit margin was very large, but it was a great way to see the country and have a continuous influx of cash along the way to fund my adventures!

I actually drove around the entire United States that way in a circle once, from Nashville southwest, then up the west coast, then across the north from West to East, then down the east coast, then back to Nashville from FL. Took about 12 weeks. Adventure of a lifetime to be honest!! Between car repairs and the fact that my trip wasn't planned to maximise income, didn't have too much to show for it by the end besides memories tho.

I tend to schedule my travels around requests/anchor appointments.

Other times I do road trips, so in those cases I'll list ads in the cities along the way and stop at the ones getting appointments. If I don't get any requests, I can keep going until the next city. Great way to visit places most people fly over.

That's a great idea. I'm sure you see clients in cities that others pass on. Then there is the added benefit of having a car to use on Out calls

I have decided a No go for more scenes. Porn is like a tattoo. Always there. If I ever reconsider, I'll just read through this thread and go from there. Thank you all for the input.

Only if I'm dubious about the city's ability to fill my schedule in the first place, but a client is begging me to visit. In this case, I'll offer to let said client anchor my trip with a 50% advance deposit. For example: Nashville. I'm happy to come but I'm not convinced that business is going to be booming for me. I'll only come if I have an anchor client.

But generally I'm not flying by the seat of my pants or operating primarily by same-day bookings either. I advertise my tours at least a month in advance, sometimes even 6-8 weeks in advance. I buy domestic flights from Southwest.com, which are refundable for flight credit. I take advance bookings and have a clear and effective cancellation policy. As long as I have at least one confirmed booking in any given city, I go. I tend to tour anywhere from 6-12 cities back-to-back in extended multi-week tours, so even if I end up merely breaking even in one city, I don't stress because perhaps in the next city I'll turn a very high profit, so it tends to even out. In some cities I'm busier than others. Sometimes I'm even grateful for the downtime in a slow city when the cities before and after are packed with appointments. It's not uncommon for my schedule to be completely booked in advance before I arrive to a city and for me to be turning away inquiries upon arrival (Baltimore, NYC, Chicago, LA). My cancellation rate is very low now that I employ a clearly-articulated cancellation policy in my confirmation process.

I also agree with @Mikegaite 's comment above about it depending on my personal interest in visiting a city. If I have good friends in a particular city who I can stay with and want to spend time with anyway, I may include it in a tour regardless of any certain bookings. Perhaps I would schedule it between two cities that are typically busy for me and expect it to be something between a vacation and a working vacation for me. But again, only if I had compelling personal reasons to want to visit. NOLA is a good example of this type of city for me.

If I were visiting a domestic city primarily for escorting, yes. If I were visiting a domestic city in which escorting was an auxiliary goal but not the primary purpose of the trip, then also yes if I had my druthers. I would get crickets going to a new city compared to all the dozens of hotties and known quantities. I've built enouhh bases in certain cities where I have had reasons to visit other than escorting, that i tend to avoid non-anchor cities. I'm in one non-anchor now bc I wanted to explore it, but I gave myself a limited window of time there bc I don't have anchors here except new anchors. Sorry my ambien is kicking in but you get the idea.

@VictorPowers ..... I do several confirmations, because being a bottom escort takes some effort. @FTM Zachary Prince ..great advice, if they don't want to give me the address when I ask, then I will not consider them being serious about booking.
As for the rest some good explanations... although the guy that prompted this thread was not young..actually 45 yrs old....

Right, I can see how someone newer to escorting might not pick up on the subtlety of dangling that information to be given at some point in the future, but I think experience teaches most of us that when clients are not forthcoming with the information that we NEED to know for the logistics of the booking, it's usually a warning sign that something is off. Like maybe they're not really sure if they're serious about it or not.

I agree with your address comments. For that reason I no longer answer blocked calls. There is no reason why I shouldn't know an address or phone number.

Occasionally it's because of a true emergency. Often it's simply lack of respect.

I can't say that this ever happens to me anymore because I make my clients jump thru lots of hoops to book me in the first place (tends to weed out those who aren't serious), but it sure used to happen a lot when I was newer to escorting.

Nowadays, I would never consider an Outcall "confirmed" if I didn't have the address. I would neither hold the time in my schedule for the client nor spend any of my time preparing for the meeting without the address. Unless perhaps it was a regular and he had a very good reason for not knowing the address in advance.

In my opinion, if you're not ready to give me your address then you're not really serious about the booking.

I've been engaging in this debate myself lately. So far I've always chosen to produce my own erotic content that I direct myself. This allows me to make sure that it's tailored to my escort marketing rather than risking giving clients false ideas about what may or may not be available during a session. I agree that video is a powerful marketing tool for escorts. Even tho I've never done conventional porn, my clients often mention that meeting me FEELS like meeting a porn star because they've spent so much time enjoying my self-produced videos in anticipation of meeting me.

Self-production can be expensive. I spend around $3K each (including shoot locations, wardrobe, props, videographer, etc.) to produce teaser videos that end up being around 2 minutes long. And since I don't charge people to view my videos, it is not a profit-generating venture in and of itself. But as a marketing tool for my escorting, they have been invaluable. I'm sure I've made at least $10K in additional income from each new video, and that's just considering the clients who have taken the time to specifically mention to me that my videos are what sealed the deal for them.

The best part of self-producing video content tailored to my escort business is the TYPE of clients that it's drawn to me. Since my personal erotic style is very much reflected therein, I end up drawing clients that I am very compatible with in the bedroom. They can feel confident in advance that we will be compatible too.

My videos were all produced pre-transition, so they do not reflect my new branding or my current appearance (ie., they're GIRLY), but here's a link in case anyone's curious what they like:

I agree not much is accomplished by positive thinking in and of itself. But beliefs, biases, unrecognized assumptions and such all effect the constellation of facts one has to work with and the way he/she works with them.

I personally do charge a cancellation fee. My business model makes it necessary. I invest a lot of money in advance to make myself available for clients. Since I serve a niche market, this allows me to meet clients from all over the country instead of listening to them lament from afar that they are dying to meet me but can't make it to my home city. But it does require some level of committment between my clients and I about our appointments.

If I didn't charge a cancellation fee, I know I would be suspicious and resentful of clients who canceled on me at the last minute. Anyone can say they're sick, or their mother died, or any number of excuses, but at the end of the day, I have no way of verifying any of that and I'll be the one stuck with a $300 hotel bill for a room that I didn't even end up using. Other clients have mentioned, here and elsewhere, that an escort has stopped communicating with them or accepting appointments after a last-minute cancellation. We often do this because we can't tell with certainty who legimately had a last-minute emergency and who is simply being disrespectful of our time. In an effort to protect ourselves from further losses in the future, we may cut off any client who cancels at the last minute, assuming the worst about their potential to repeat this behaviour in the future (as many who don't respect our time unfortunately do). For me, charging a cancellation fee is also a way of sorting between someone who genuinely had a last minute emergency but DOES respect my time/monetary investment, and someone who merely made an excuse because they didn't respect my time enough to keep their committment. This way, I don't end up resentful towards or cutting off a good client who genuinely respects my time but just couldn't make things work suddenly.

My cancellation policy is a contract between me and my clients where we both agree to share the financial responsibility in the event that something should come up on the client's end. Obviously if I need to cancel for any reason (very rare), then the loss is all mine. I NEVER surprise a client with a cancellation fee after the fact, tho. My cancellation policy is generally stated in my ads, on my website, and included in the body of my email request for a client to confirm our booking before I block it into my calendar and make the logistical arrangements. Thus every client CONSENTS to it when confirming a booking and has the opportunity to decline to confirm if he disagrees. I find that this approach makes having a cancellation policy a very smooth and conflict-free experience. I do not HAVE to demand a cancellation fee after someone cancels on me at the last minute; my clients already know when canceling that I have a cancellation policy, and generally mention their intention to send my cancellation fee at the same time that they inform me of the cancellation.

Is my cancellation policy "enforceable"? Absolutely not, in the same way that I don't have much legal recourse if a client shorts me $100 of my fee after a session. However, given that my clients consent to my policy when making a booking and are aware of it when they choose to cancel, if someone doesn't send me the fee as previously agreed then it lets me know pretty clearly just how much they respect my business. At least I don't have to play any guessing games about their intentions and can comfortably refuse to engage with them about any future appointments. At that point the breach of trust between the two of us is clear.

Since implementing a clearly-explained and client-consented cancellation policy (3-4 years ago), not only has my number of cancellations dropped dramatically, but the stress has gone out of the ones that do happen. Vast majority of my clients send my cancellation fee without any stress on my part, my touring finances are more stable, and the rare client who does not follow thru with my fee ends up on my permanent DO NOT SEE list. It's also improved my relationships with good clients who do have to cancel unexpectedly last minute because the whole exchange is consensual and respectful toward both of us... no reason for surprise or suspicion on either side of the equation.

I think the NEED for a cancellation fee varies widely depending on the business model of the escort. Some business models, for example, are primarily based on a higher volume of shorter appointments within a metro area, and involve a good number of last minute cancellations and last minute bookings that might on average even out, thus anyone could shrug and say it's just the cost of doing business. Let's say for example that this escort has a steady Incall arrangement and doesn't have to front hotel fees to host Incall either. Offering clients last minute flexibility in this case may be practical & have positive impact on the escort's relationships with said clients.

However~ consider an entirely different business model. An escort has a two hour minimum booking and is flying into NYC from Europe to see clients. He sees only two clients a day maximum to deliver optimum performance. Because of the higher commitment of time & money involved, most of his clients book weeks in advance. He spends three days each in NYC, DC, Chicago, SF, LA, and Atlanta. His hotel Incall costs amount to $300 per night on average, add in food/travel/incidentals and we're looking at $400-500 per day investment to make the tour. If a client were to cancel on him even 24-48 hours in advance, it might cause him a financial loss as it could be too late to adjust his travel plans, and he might be much more unlikely to be able to fill the spot on such short notice. This guy might need to have a cancellation fee in order to buffer the loss of income from unexpected last minute cancellations.

What feels last minute to one escort can vary widely from what feels last minute to another escort. When flights & hotel reservations are involved, 24 hours seems like much less notice than when someone's only investment to reach you is a taxi or uber ride. There are also hidden factors less obvious to the client. Did the escort have to rearrange his schedule to accommodate your request in the first place? Did that cost him anything? Did he turn down other requests that he can't now re-arrange because that client has already made other plans? Etc.

Whatever makes the client comfortable is fine with me. I don't feel the need to know ahead of time as it's irrelevant to my ability to find someone attractive or provide good service, but I also don't view it as a sign of low self-esteem or anything if someone chooses to disclose. I just figure they're doing so for some of the good reasons already mentioned in this thread.

Tho I have to say that cigar-infused saliva has got to be just about the only kind that I really don't like. Such a pity, because the visual of a hot man smoking a cigar is a real turn on... ‍♂️
