Riiiiight... because everyone knows that college students are the LEAST likely to be desperate for cash!!

Do you even remember what being a college student was like?? Literally I have never seen people more desperate for cash than college students. Even homeless people have way more options for getting free food than college students. College students are the MOST DESPERATE and also the EASIEST to take advantage of because they’re inexperienced. Why do you think SA is full of students ready to spend an entire evening with someone for $150-200? Colleges expect your parents to contribute to your educational expenses and if a guy’s parents doesn’t, then he’s fucked. Try studying 60 hours a week and then trying to make ends meet off the 10 hours a week that you manage to work for $7.25 per hour at your campus job. Great... $290 per month... oops I mean $200 per month after taxes. Try feeding yourself (plus buying toiletries, clothes, etc) on $200 per month while attending college, studying, and working 70 hours per week. If that doesn’t equal financial desperation, I don’t know what does. Hunger is extremely motivational.

Just be a good client, pay his asking rate, respect his boundaries, and leave on time. Don’t concern yourself with who is “desperate” for money. Half the time people are acting anyway. It’s all a part of the hustle.

Plenty of homeless people have roofs over their heads AND hope for the future. Also, I didn’t say they have more ways to make money. I said they have more options to get free food. Reading comprehension not your strength?

Point is college students are often much more desperate for immediate cash than homeless people. And that is the damn truth. Having been both homeless AND a college student, I definitely know both situations.

Homeless people qualify for food stamps. College students do not (even if they’re also homeless).

Homeless people who are not in college have time to apply to housing placement programs that most college students are not able to access.

Homeless people who are not in college have time to work a traditional job 30-40 hours per week and can search for one. Full time college students can not.

In America today, grocery stores throw out tons of perfectly good food on a daily basis. Sometimes they donate it to churches that give the food away in boxes to homeless people. How many college students who are studying 60 hours a week and working 10 hours a week do you think have time to go seek out and collect all this free food waste? These programs are all targeted at homlesss people (who aren’t college students).

Point is, college students have no support systems in place for them when they are broke and hungry. The systems designed to support homeless people aren’t accessible to them. Homeless people (who aren’t in college) have far more resources at their disposal than college students who are hungry. Which equals a much higher level of desperation amongst broke college students to earn something by any means necessary. Maybe you assume that all college students have year-round housing or meals provided daily but that’s simply not true.

FTM Zachary Prince got a reaction from Kyle Clinton in 2018: Will this be the year of raising or lowering rates for you?
Advertising to clients with a higher budget is all about putting yourself in places that aren’t traditional escort ad venues (which, if someone is in the habit of browsing, they are more likely to be more into paying an average rate). Social media is one way. Making a name for yourself as a porn star (even an indie/self-made one) is another. Drinking at bars that business executives frequent (during the times they actually go there) with a stack of business cards is another. SEO is another. Having your own brand/website that can stand on its own outside of escort ad venues is KEY for all these strategies except maybe the social media strategy, and even then it helps.

Clients willing to pay a higher rate tend to want to book you for YOU, not just because you’re an escort who fits X Y and Z parameters. Creating a presence in places where men with a high enough income to afford your rate can notice you, desire you, and realize that they can have you is the real game. Figuring out WHERE those places are that your potential clients can find you is the real challenge. But the above are some examples of strategies that WORK.

In my experience showing a lot of depth of personality is helpful. A handful of generic selfies and a couple generic ad paragraphs simply do not cut it, in the world of higher rates. Make them fall in love with who you are as an individual and what makes you special, and the rate becomes less of a determining factor.

I’m happy with my rates and won’t be changing them for full service escorting.

Now that I’m based in SF (temporarily) and it’s a lot more convenient for me to get to clients within a smaller ratio, I’ve been thinking about adding a more affordable massage option, since I’m good with my hands. Doubt I would offer this service outside of SF tho.

I agree with a lot of the ideas in this thread, but I don’t think the same clients are the ones paying $50 and $500 rates, 99% of the time. That’s pretty rare for a client to agree to pay such widely varying amounts. Most clients have a price range they’re comfortable with, and they stick to it. You’ll find guys who pay $40-80, guys who pay $80-150, guys who pay $150-250, guys who pay $200-300, guys who pay $300-500, guys who pay $500-1000, and so on and so on.

Most (but not all) of the guys who frequent this board and RM are going to be price shoppers, but I bet a lot of them would hesitate to agree to an offer for a $20 hookup too. They might wonder what’s wrong with the situation that it’s so much cheaper than what they’re used to. Most of the guys who exclusively stroll the streets and hookup apps/sites for escorts are gonna have the lowest budgets and would balk at the idea of paying even $150. The guys who prefer to pay $250-500 might skip over an ad that lists an hourly rate of $150, assuming (perhaps falsely) that since the price is so low, the experience won’t be up to their standards. You can literally NEVER make everyone happy or choose a price that appeals to everyone.

Most of the types of clients who pay my rates ($1000+) don’t post on these types of boards, so one might think from reading here that they don’t exist. But Mocha, your story about changing your rate to $500 and then getting new clients doesn’t surprise me at all. Those clients are out there, and a lot of them don’t even pay attention to your ad until there is a high rate attached to it.

At the end of the day you should choose your rate based on what YOU need to earn, based on your opportunity costs, travel time, income needs, volume preferences, etc. If there is more resistance than you’d like, you’re simply marketing to the wrong crowd. Figure out where the guys who are happy to pay your rate are looking, which marketing tactics speak to them, what type of photos they respond to, how much advance notice and what type of Incall location they require. In my opinion, don’t change your rate- change your advertising and find the clients who are willing to pay the rates you want in order to give you the income you need.

Advertising the same way that $150 escorts advertise, on the same venues they advertise, using the same quality of photos, and operating under the same business model, is always gonna result in clients who WANT to pay $150 telling you that at $250, you’re charging too much. Likewise if you start advertising on grindr, you’re gonna get guys telling you that even $150 is “too much”. When I raised my rates from $200 to $500 (gradually over time), I always experienced comments about my rates being ridiculously high (even at $225 I used to get those comments). But as I changed my advertising to seek out my target audience more and more effectively, the naysayers ceased to contact me and the guys who were ready to pay my asking price found me.

This experience/advice I’m sharing isn’t necessarily an encouragement to raise rates even higher. Everyone should literally sit down with their business model and income needs and then decide how much they need to charge. If you’re happy with your rate then keep it! But don’t let the “going rate” control your business model. You control your rate. You can’t control how the market responds. But you can LEARN from negative market responses and adjust your advertising accordingly. You don’t have to appeal to everyone, or even most. You just have to find your people and keep them coming back.

If I were an escort, I would rather get less clients @ a higher rate, than more (cheap) clients @ a lower rate. More clients @ a lower rate just means more work, & probably no tips, no dinners, dingy motels... yuck... not worth the extra bucks that may come from f'ing more guys.

Sooo much fun! In India you actually have to get your bag searched before entering any five star hotel too, so this happens to me even more frequently there. I find that the less embarrassed I am by the whole thing, the more awkward the person searching my bag seems to feel. So I’m super bold and smiley about it when they ask. They typically get so embarrassed that they stop searching my bag or search it less thoroughly, which I don’t mind at all.

You better believe they scanned separately my dildo. I cannot remember which airport, but it's been the only occurrence. I wasn't embarrassed by it surprisingly.
A favorite moment was my bag being searched and I had 2 lacy jocks right on top. The TSA guy stops then eyes me asking "This is YOUR bag ,right?" That was an interesting moment for us both.

Why worry? I recently packed a chrome cocking and nipple clamps. The TSA lady asked about them and I simply stated, with a straight face, that they were gay sex toys. Her male TSA partner laughed and winked at me.

I advertise as vers/top, and it’s pretty much to signal that while my pussy IS on the table, my primary mode is as a top, I’m most talented as a top, and I prefer topping to bottoming given the choice. Simply listing as versatile might yield the impression that I’m equally into topping and bottoming, which is simply not accurate.

I totally agree with the earlier comments that many bottom clients assume guys advertising as “versatile” are really bottoms. Seeing the word “top” in the description is helpful. And I DOUBLE agree that cis guy clients tend to assume that trans guys are all bottoms, so it’s even MORE important for trans guys who top to emphasise that we do in fact, top. Hence Vers/Top is much more useful as a descriptor for many of us than simply saying Vers.

Maybe this is obvious to everyone, but in my mind:

    Total Top: only tops
Vers/Top: prefers to top; will bottom in the right circumstance (perhaps upon request, perhaps having to do with dick size or mood)
Vers: offers topping and bottoming with roughly equal enthusiasm
Vers/Bottom: prefers to bottom; will top upon request
    Total Bottom: only bottoms

Hence Vers/Top is much more useful as a descriptor for many of us than simply saying Vers.

Maybe this is obvious to everyone, but in my mind:

    Total Top: only tops
Vers/Top: prefers to top; will bottom in the right circumstance (perhaps upon request, perhaps having to do with dick size or mood)
Vers: offers topping and bottoming with roughly equal enthusiasm
Vers/Bottom: prefers to bottom; will top upon request
    Total Bottom: only bottoms

I haven't posted an ad in a bit but I tend to list myself vers/top when I do when the option exists... though reading these responses I'm kind of rethinking that for next time.

I use it because I am versatile (the sort that will top, bottom, or happily switch it up mid session) but if I put "versatile" guys tend to assume that I'm really a bottom despite the fact I really enjoy topping. I'm sure some of it is because I'm IS/trans so it's a bit to counter the passive rather submissive bottom assumption that a lot of clients seem to have of trans guys, and less so of intersex guys for those with that level of awareness that we even exist. However, those stereotypes-- while I certainly know folks who fit them-- are not me and if that's what guys expect because so-and-so was like that or so-and-so said trans guys were like that because he dated one once, they're going to be disappointed. I probably would never ever top without explicitly mentioning that I top and since I'm actually versatile always bottoming all the time is not my thing-- much like never bottoming isn't, either.

However, the idea that it comes across as equivocal to some guys gives me some pause about listing myself as a versatile top.

FTM Zachary Prince got a reaction from Shawn Monroe in Question: Do public holidays impact your hours
In my experience holidays, including summer and weekends, are more hit or miss compared to weekdays. When I do get work during these times, it often tends to be longer/higher-paying sessions tho.

Many guys have plans with friends or family and are unavailable. But the ones who do not have plans, are often free for much longer sessions than they ordinarily would be. I get more dinner dates, lunch dates, 8 hours bookings & overnights during weekends, holidays, and summers. But my overall booking volume will be much lower. I tend to avoid touring during holidays for this reason. Holidays are good times to work your base location, in my opinion/experience.
