I believe that the Private Gallery is an extension of the ad, not a source of additional revenue. No company would charge potential customers to view their ads. I am not willing to host or pick up the hotel tab for a meeting. What I’m saying is that if the provider is booked at a hotel I’m not comfortable with, then I don’t hire him. So as a client, I think I am entitled to know which hotel he is booked at so I can make my decision. There are so many providers out there who book at good hotels and they’re getting my business.

Yes, I often do that. I let them know my reasons for asking for the hotel info. I actually end up giving them suggestions for where to stay, heads up for parking difficulties and key card access to elevators. So Mr Provider, when I ask for your hotel info, I’m doing so as an ally and not an adversary.

The provider’s location and hotel choice are one of my main considerations in confirming a booking. Why location? Because I don’t like being late for appointments and I often only have small pockets of time to meet providers. So I need to know which side of town they’ll be at for me to be sure I can make it to them on time. Why hotel choice? I’ve had so many unpleasant experiences at so-called roach motels. A few hours after I left a cheapo hotel, after meeting a provider, a murder was committed there. Some hotels in my city are known for drug dealing activity. So yes, I need to know where a provider is staying. When I ask a provider where he will he hosting at and his reply is, “You’ll get hotel info when you book”, I end the conversation. I often tell providers we will have to pencil in a booking until the hotel info is known. I have canceled appointments once or twice because I did not like the hotel the provider was booked in. And no, I did not pay cancellation fees. The providers knew I was picky with their hotel choice.
