I agree about the movie choices. Not much to root for. The reviews for the two winning films were not entirely friendly. I still need to see Roma and If Beale Street Could Talk.

A Star Is Born is notches above Bohemian Rhapsody technically and in general. Aside from the LiveAid concert, Bohemian Rhapsody is a network TV movie. HBO's Liberace and Versace TV movies were more daring and challenging.
 
I enjoyed The Green Book more than I expected . I can see why it won Supporting Actor, Screenplay, and Best Picture Comedy. It's funny and moving with terrific performances. I think the backlash is coming from the PC police.

Can't respond in full to your post w/o getting the thread sent to the Politics forum, but I do gotta say I disagree that social media is authoritarian & dumbing-down democracy. The opposite is true actually... social media has empowered regular citizens with no money or power to become politically active, allowing #PeoplePowered movements to rise up all across the world. The Gilets Jaunes protests wouldn't be taking place in France w/o social media organizing, for example. ✨

I "like" that there are more choices in the "like" fields - more than just like or not.

Having managed large IT systems, you cannot stay on outdated and thus unsupported versions of products.
 
Operating systems, data base systems, hardware and software are all interdependent.
 
You must constantly be upgrading and stay current or you run the risk of platform instability.
 
At IBM it was called RAS. Reliability, Availability and Serviceability.

Default or M4M seems to be a more traditional layout than the NextGen design.

What is not easy? Everything is the same, just looks more contemporaneous.

I must be the only one who loves all these new goodies/options. Not sure why anyone would want less choices

I'm confident that the new feature set will be refined after observation of how it suits the community. Overall, the upgrade is a great benefit, IMO. I know that a platform upgrade requires considerable time and effort, and it's clear that a lot of thought went into refining this platform to suit the forums.

While it was a surprise to see it up early, I had no doubt it would be back after the upgrade was complete.
