Just received a reply apologizing for not answering my last text sooner. Said he would definitely notify me if and when he is in my area. Based on our communication I will definitely set up a meeting when he is in my area. Seems like a really nice guy.

He asked me where in Orange County, Southern California I lived. I answered giving him the name of the city and total silence since.

I find him VERY appealing. We have been texting back and forth regarding getting together on his next trip to Southern California. His is into many of the things I enjoy and comes across as a very nice guy. Hopefully we will be able to work something out.

The most difficult thing for me in coping with my ageing parents was the fact that our roles reversed. Whether we liked it or not my sister and I became the parents and my parents became the children. We had to make decisions that we didn't like and they resisted.

MikeBiDude I was definitely planning on eating at Pujol until I read multiple recent tripadvisor reviews. Most claim the restaurant is simply become a money factory for the owners. They also complain that diners are rushed, the "Madre mole" is boring, and alcohol prices are outrageous. I'm going to have to think seriously about this one. P.S. Definitely plan on eating at Gabriels Camara's restaurant Contramar

John a couple of questions. I usually depend on tripadvisor for hotel suggestions. It rates the Gran Hotel as number 1 in the centro historico. The first three pages of reviews written by previous guests all give the hotel five stars. I wonder if it has recently been updated? If I stay there I will plan to take an upper floor suite with a Zacolo view - I realize Zacolo view room can be noisy. Do you have any hotel suggestions for the Zacolo area? Thanks

Those of you who have followed my posts, over the years, know that I love Mexico. Over the last, forty plus, years I have visited nearly every nook and cranny in the country. However, the one place I have avoided like the plague is Mexico City. I have, for years, thought of it as too crowded, too polluted, and too crime ridden. Additionally I have NEVER been fond of “Chilango” Spanish. I find the sing song cadence and difficult idiomatic expressions unpleasant. Actually the last time I visited Mexico City was in 1965. Well guess what? I am right now in the midst of planning about a ten day trip to Mexico City. I am looking at leaving the middle of May. I plan to stay at the Gran Hotel de la Ciudad de Mexico an Art Nouveau hotel built in the early 20th century and located right on the Zocalo directly across from the cathedral. I plan to visit the usual city sites: the Museo Nacional de Antropologia, the Palacio Nacional, the Templo Mayor, and the Castillo de Chapultepec. I’m also considering day trips to: San Juan Teotihuacan, Puebla, and Tepoztlan with a private car and guide. Okay guys I am definitely looking for recommendations and suggestions. Please let me know if you have favorite restaurants, favorite museums, and favorite arts and crafts shops. I pretty much open to everything. The one thing I won’t need help with is escort suggestions as I have my own rather extensive list of possible guys.

I think I'm going to continue bumping this tread so new members will have the opportunity to encounter it. Hopefully there are still some newbies considering attending. Frankly the more the better

If I count correctly we will all be meeting in Palm Springs for the annual Palm Springs Weekend six weeks from this Friday. Hard to believe it is so rapidly approaching. Hopefully both regulars and newbies have already made transportation and hotel reservations for the long weekend. I understand from some attendees that hotel reservations are becoming few and far between so if you haven't made you reservations yet PLEASE do so immediately. I'm looking forward to seeing many of the regulars and hopefully lots of newbies.

Local jurisdictions (counties and cities) are allowed to mandate their own mask restrictions.. Riverside County in which Palm Springs in located has lifted mask restrictions BUT the city of Palm Springs has not. To the best of my knowledge all cities surrounding Palm Springs (Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, etc) have lifted their indoor mask requirements. If Covid19 numbers continue to drop I would guess that the city of Palm Springs will be forced to drop their indoor mask requirements as well. I would also guess that by the time of the Palm Springs Weekend Palm Springs will be mask free as well.

No way WilliamM. I loved it from the day I started until the very last day. Sure there were a few bad days but that's true of any occupation. For all those years I had mostly great students and great parents. I was fortunate in that during my entire teaching career I had only two principals and they were both, in their own ways, wonderful. I loved working with the high school age group. They were always fun and unpredictable. If I had my life to live over again I would do exactly the same thing in in exactly the same place. Damn I had a wonderful career and thus a wonderful life.

Where the hell do I find the current (2022) Palm Springs Weekend thread. It is not at the top of the home page. It continue to disappear which is a total pain in the ass.

Hadn't even thought about it but will stop at my neighborhood pharmacy tomorrow and inquire about the protocol. I haven't had any reaction thus far so why not?????

I got together with Josh Weston, in San Francisco, a couple of years before he passed away. He was an absolute sweetheart and actually quite shy.

Unfortunately he doesn't mention kissing as something is is into!!!!! Other than that disqualifier he looks great.

Thanks but no thanks. I'll stick with my traditional oil deep fryer. I don't do a lot of deep frying but do skillet frying in my numerous cast iron skillets. I take my deep fryer with me to the Palm Springs Weekend in which I prepare Cantonese Style Won Tons, and Deep Fried Ravioli.
