I only really know the NYC scene, so can’t say how it differs elsewhere, but a number of guys I’ve met here have reached out afterwards, kept in touch, let me know about travel schedules, etc. But that applies to visitors as well as to local providers; so really, I’m inclined to think that the tendency to “cultivate” good clients is based more on individual provider personality and business philosophy, and less on geography.
