Last Tango In Halifax, which has been decommissioned since 2016, will be coming back to BBC One in 2020. It will be a four part series and will have many of the same cast members that had made the original cast so great, including Anne Reid, Derek Jacobi, Sarah Lancashire, Nicola Walker, and Josh Bolt. The new series will be written by the original screenwriter who went on to write Gentleman Jack and Happy Valleys. There does not seem to be an exact date that the episode will premiere, although there are trailers to be seen. Also, I believe I originally saw Last Tango on PBS and so I have a feeling that someone must belong to BBC on cable to see this showing of the series. Lucky you. And I do hope he comes for the Weekend. I do know that his dance club performs during a part of the Weekend or at least did. And then he would head on out to see Traveler. Not sure if that will change or not.

I know I am late with this (as with most of my life). I just started to watch Special and I found it funny and endearing. At the same time I could relate to much of the main character's experiences and feelings and if it really is the writer's and main actor's life experience I am amazed that it found it's way on to a screen. It sort of reminded me of the ability of the Australian show Please Like Me's ability to find a network because of the subject matter and unremarkable (i.e. not gorgeous, not sensationally muscular) gay main character and writer. It was nice to see characters that could have been stock characters but that over time become presented in much more fulsome ways, i.e., his Indian friend who on the surface is presented as someone that has no breaking point but that later explains how there is much more to her. I also hope that the 15 minute format is expanded somewhat but I guess I should be happy that they renewed it for another season. I also found the scene with the hired escort to be both tender and totally understandable. It was hard to watch how uncomfortable the main character was because he was a disable person who really did not know what to expect but to have had a life where he had been judged and discriminated against. It was wonderful, however, to watch the escort both guide the main character through the introduction to gay sex and be non-judgmental about it. It was also very remarkable to see the show film the bodies go through the motions of gay sex. And, as noted, the escort was great looking.

What resort will he be staying at, hopefully Canyon Club?
