Finally back on the East Coast and now the decision to be made is whether or not to put a bid in on one of the two houses that I saw and liked.  I will need to make a quick decision and I am 50 50 on it right now.   Thanks to Oliver and David and the whole Palm Springs crew for all their work and hospitality.

Fifty-fifty on which house to choose, or 50/50 on whether to choose one of them at all?  That is a big decision, but you'll make the right one.  Just get very still, breathe, and listen to what your gut is telling you to do.

  2. I'm seeking feedback and, I guess, confirmation that I should follow my gut.  I reached out to a provider via text inquiring about availability and rate.  It was a provider who was well reviewed here.  I was excited at the prospect of meeting him.  But he took 3 days to respond, and when he did, this was his ambiguously worded response:

"Hey.  I might not want to take any more work in xxx, but...".   He then goes on to give me his rate structure.  What am I to even make of that?  It seems a half-hearted response at best.   My gut tells me plenty of other fish in the sea and to just move on.  What say you all?  Has this happened to anyone?

  3. Azdr, we are very much like minds in our approaches to grammar and sentence construction.  I often wish I had made my living as a professional proofreader/editor.  I still might...never too late, right?  I agree with all three of your observations.  That use of "however" is clunky and interrupts the flow of the sentence.

  4. I recently went to look up Joey Jordan in Toronto to see if he was traveling again, and it looks like he isn't on RM anymore.  Does anyone know if he's left the business?  Thanks.

  5. Oliver, you've been in my thoughts all day.  Losing a dear friend is never easy.  Although the grief is fresh, in time I know you will find comfort in all the memories of the wonderful times you and Epigonos shared together.  It is a testament to him that, even though I only met and interacted with him a handful of times, he left an impression on me such that I am feeling so sad and melancholy today to know he is no longer with us.   I loved his candor, his flair for storytelling, and his epicurean talents.  As others have said, there was a genuine warmth about Epigonos that made you feel at ease and happy in his presence.  I can only hope to live out the rest of my life as adventurously and unabashedly as he did!  He will be missed.

Oh wow! I didn't know they were having issues. I believe @youngboldone stayed there during the recent Palm Springs weekend in April.

I recall Inndulge was for sale though.

I did indeed stay there based on a recommendation from friends.  The common areas were nicely maintained, and the resort was in a good area, although not within walking distance to downtown.  My room, however, was another story.  Cabinet doors coming off hinges, a toilet that didn't function half the time...it had definitely seen better days.  My guess is that the owner knew he was going to sell and didn't bother to maintain the rooms.  The resort had clearly gone downhill since the last time my friends had stayed.  I am considering Inndulge for the PS 2022 weekend.

  7. I had such a great time attending my first event this year.  Like Keroscenefire, though, I have a European trip planned for next July, so I'm not sure PS in April is in the cards for me next year.  Will sit down and scrutinize the budget and hopefully can crunch the numbers in a way that will make it feasible.  I'd love to attend again!
