  1. I was out with some friends when I bought George Michael's Songs from the Last Century back when it came out and they took great delight razzing me about it at the time. But I enjoyed it very much and particularly liked Miss Sarajevo. A few years later, I sent the song to one of the friends and asked him to judge it on its own merits and he wrote me back saying it was very touching and well done. A few years later he died unexpectedly and now I think of him every time I listen to it. It's the most listened to song in my collection, so I guess that has to count toward making it my favorite, even though it is rather melancholy for me.

I hope this is okay, although it brakes the rules. Forgot about it after I visited Sarajevo a few years ago. People in Bosnia want everyone to know what happened. Sarajevo and the City of Mostar have too many recent graves.

It doesn't break the rules as there is a cover by George Michael, this the most listened-to song in my library:

  3. That is one of the things I like the most of my Texan boy. He is hot, smart, into public policy, working in his first job in a non profit think tank in DC, and I am helping him up. I was lucky to found him. It has been a month already, and he cannot find another place so far, so I do not know how long our arrangement is going to last.

How long do you want it to last? ;)

  4. Well I decided to take the plunge and pay the $80 upgrade for one month's access on the site - and one thing I'm finding out now that I can message these guys back and forth is that a lot of them (most of them, actually) had no clue that it costs SD's that much to even view their messages. They think they're being rudely ignored. So that was an eye-opener.

I'll confess, I signed up for the free account months ago and deleted and blocked everyone who sent me a message or favorited me that didn't conform to what I said I was interested in. I wonder if they can tell that I did that. Not that it wouldn't be fine if they could.

  5. I don't really consider it a nickname as much as a term of endearment...

Yeah, I have to keep reminding myself they have good intentions.

    .

    Ok babe. :p

Ha, it could be worse, if they actually called called me "Daddy".

  6. Formal name is Robert, diminutive is often Robby/Bobby, and nickname is traditionally Bob but nowadays frequently Rob.

This made me smile. My equivalent example is I go by Rob, because it's short for Robespierre (a name no one dares to guess), but occasionally people call me Bob, to which so far I've been able to laugh and say 'guess again'.

Edit: And I'll shamelessly tailgate on your thread to say while getting my name wrong, or whatever, doesn't phase me, every single working guy I've dealt with who uses a nickname with me has used the same one "babe", which I hate hate hate but have decided to not say anything about as I don't want to make the good guys I want to repeat with paranoid about the things they say to me.

  7. I did not know you were planning to hire him. I like him, but the experiences with him are not consistent. I would have loved to learn about yours.

He is the second guy on my buddy list after Chris, for some reason his pics get my motor running, but timing never worked out on his previous trips to DC. And after my negotiations with another guy collapsed after that guy inadvertently revealed more of his true nature, I had an opportunity to set a meeting with Devon. I've read all the comments here about Devon and was ready to bail at the first sign of trouble, but he was completely normal in our brief communications and texts. Perhaps someday it will work out.

Edit: BTW, #3 is Sean Xavier ;)

Did you meet Devon when he was in DC two weeks ago?

    ~Boomer~

As it happens, he told me beforehand that due to circumstances beyond his control, he would not be able to perform as we discussed. I don't think he was blowing me off, he said if I wanted to do something different, we could still meet at the time. I thanked him for being upfront with me but declined.

I can say that his communication was highly efficient and professional. Even though this was the first time I had contacted him, we set the meeting in like 5 emails, he did not make any extraordinary requests, such as a deposit. He was just as courteous when I declined to meet given the changed circumstances.

I can understand that some people might not have taken the news as well, but since he let me know in advance, I had no problem with it, we're all human and things can happen. I can say that I have not been shown that same courtesy by a couple of other working guys. I thought he handled it correctly and my to-do is always waiting for me. I hope to meet up with him on a future visit.
