It was sent as a photo after the message and weirdly I can't capture/copy the image or cut and paste it? Any techie's have a suggestion?

try the "snipping tool" (if you are on a Windows computer).  It lets you select an area of the screen to capture.

  2. My house is up the hill from the San Diego Bay.  All we've had today is a light drizzle.  Sometimes a little bit more.  And sometimes it just stops for a little while.

I was looking at the rainfall amounts posted for each hour in the AccuWeather app all day yesterday and the rain amounts seemed pretty small.  Like 0.15" for the single hour.  I felt a little worried that I really didn't prepare anything even though San Diego Gas & Electric has been leaving voicemails to prepare for the worst.  But I was just counting on the actual forecast for my local area.  So far, so good.

I stayed several times at the Chamberlain in WeHo, but I’ve not visited since the pandemic.

The hotel has several advantages: I liked the location very much; the rooms are large and quiet; a decent-sized rooftop pool; the staff were pleasant and efficient; and there’s a large garage which never charged me for visitor parking.

As for the OP’s concern about scandal/being seen with various hot young men, it was never a problem for me. There are several gay men on the staff. Once the man on reception congratulated me on my date; another time, when I told the Garage that my visitor was going to extend his parking to stay overnight, the response was Have a great time.

Thanks for this great review of the Chamberlain.  I was just in WEHO in June, for the first time since before Covid.  And I was reminded how "dumpy" the Ramada is.  And I've been wanting to try the Chamberlain...  and I definitely will now!

Isn’t the common spa + steam room area mixed gendered?

They have separate areas for men and women with spa, steam room, dry sauna and ice bath.  I think the common area has a salt room and some kind of "clay" room.

  5. I only ever took a guy home from there once.  Mostly I just liked stopping there for dinner before meeting up at one of the bars with friends.  The food was much better than further down the strip.  Chatted with the bartenders regularly.  And then I'd stop by on my way back to the hotel when it was later and it was just mayhem.  A couple of drag queens usually at the bar.  Several hot escorts hanging out at the bar.  And I seem to remember a magician there.  When I'm traveling it's nice to sit at the bar in a nice restaurant with a lot going on hahahaha.

I loved Numbers; the one on Sunset. I must have left the LA area before their move to Santa Monica. There was a hustler bar on Santa Monica that I also liked, named Hunter's (7500 block, cross street Gardner), a whole different vibe from Numbers. Numbers had valet parking, one the best steak au poivre I've had anywhere, and a fair number of available and attractive friends-for-rent. I can't remember if this description was used for Numbers or for Rounds in NYC, but it applied equally to both: The place where young entrepreneurs go to meet older financiers. I met a number of young up-and-comers at Numbers and was quite sorry to say goodbye when I moved back East. Good times, good memories!

Wow.  I wish I had gotten to see the old Numbers on Sunset.  I did like the Numbers on Santa Monica, but the old Numbers sounds like a whole level above... possibly two :)

  7. I was just thinking about an old bar and restaurant in West Hollywood called Numbers.  (I think that was the name).  My friends used to call it the "hooker bar" -- because escorts used to hang out there.  It was one of the nicer restaurants on Santa Monica Blvd.  It was always a fun place to sit and have a drink and food.  The activity at the bar was always "interesting", especially later in the evening.  Was just wondering if anyone else remembers that place or might have any fun stories about it.

What can I say?  I just love a good 'meet-cute'.

Although, of course, it's not as good as when Isaac accidentally shot and killed Nigel whilst ogling him through the scope on his rifle.  Now they can be together forever!

I had no idea what a "meet cute" was until I saw this post.  But I agree.  I could see some Rom Com being built around that scene.

  9. That's the article I read that let me know that LA Pride was different from WEHO Pride.  But somehow it just seemed like there was more to the story.  I will finally be going back to visit WEHO later this month.  I will go back to one of my old breakfast haunts (which has been around for a long long time) and see if they know anything else about it.

  10. I only now figured out that WEHO Pride moved out of West Hollywood in 2020 and became LA Pride... and I also see that WEHO has it's own Pride, which is happening right now.  I read an article from 2020 in the LA Times about the change in the "LA Pride" location.  But I was wondering if knows any more about the backstory for how the split happened.  (I haven't been to WEHO since Covid)

I'd be interested to hear about anyone's experience mucking around with ChatGPT.  How difficult was it to use?  Did you have any privacy concerns about the information it was collecting?  Plus, what motivated you to try it?

I tried it a couple days ago.  My roommate said I should try it out.

It's not difficult to use.  But OpenAI.com requires you to create an account with them.  I typed a question asking ChatGPT how intense exercise elevates the level of LDL (bad cholesterol) in your body.  It gave a decent answer.  But one of its points was wrong.  So I asked a question about that.  It apologized for its oversight and provided some info that was closer to a real answer.  Then I asked if it could cite the sources for its last response.  It said it could not do that.

Overall, I think it would be good for asking it a question when you have no idea where to begin.  Then when it gives you an answer, you take the guts of each of the paragraphs in the answer and look it up like you normally would on the internet.. and you can find credible sources and such that way.  And you can Fact Check ChatGPT -- which seems important to do.  ChatGPT is trained on all the text of the internet -- truth and falsehoods alike.

  12. I usually get 8 hours of sleep.  But I typically get up to pee once, about 2-3 hours after I fall asleep, and go right back to sleep (and I don't wash my hands! ewww).  And I probably briefly wake up and open my eyes and glance at the clock maybe every 1.5 to 2 hours, and most of the time I just fall back asleep.

I just got a "white noise machine" a couple weeks ago -- because an acquaintance mentioned having one.  Ever since I started using it, I seem to open my eyes much less often in the night.  I thought that machine was just supposed to drown out other sounds (like barking dogs), but somehow the sound seems to lull me to sleep.  A little bit like falling asleep when I was a child in the car when my parents were driving us somewhere.

  13. We only have two Korean spas ("jjimjilbang" - but I don't know how to pronounce that word, I can barely spell it) in San Diego.

The one I've been to most does seem to be get really busy on Friday evenings.  It starts getting busier around noon or 1pm.  Some openly gay guys, some on the DL and some curious.  Then it gets really busy around 4pm or 5pm.  The average age of the crowd increases, and more straight guys come in.

Saturdays and Sundays seem to be a lot of Asian families coming in.  So I avoid those days.  Can't play around in the sauna with all the straight guys around.

And strangely, just like gshock said, when I looked at the Google Maps entry for the spa a couple weeks ago, Mondays were a very busy day -- and I have no idea why that would be.  I have yet to go there on a Monday.  But I will have to do it so I can see if Google Maps is right about how busy it is.

I’ve been trying to make sense of this.  Was he trying to tell me to nvm his erotic option because it was just a waste of time?

I think he didn't like being asked for a description of his erotic option.  So he got a little snarky and said never mind you're wasting my time.
