  15. Do you know for sure that the virus was spread because of their interaction? And again "experts" aren't always right, this social distancing could be a total farce.
  16. They are two adults, they can make their own decisions. And guess what, experts aren't always right.
  17. Like I said, there was a letter handed out while waiting to be tested that stated if you test positive, and I assume are asymptomatic you can still work. And yes there are other employees besides nurses but they are still around the residents such as housekeeping, activities (who are still at work), therapy, some of the cooking staff, and even maintenance. I did not get much more clarification today as management was not around. But a lot of the nurses are interpreting the letter the same way...so with some degree of certainty you could say that a majority of the residents have been exposed so people have been thinking that the positive staff would work in the covid-19 units or with residents who have already recovered and not in the one unit it hasn't come to yet. I work in therapy and my company is contracted out this facility so we don't always follow the same rules/guidelines...so I did find out that I would not be allowed to come to work if I tested positive asymptomatic or not.
  18. Anyone having family in the senior living facility in the original post should move them out as fast as possible. To clarify, the staffing shortage is in large part because the staff were sick. There are a lot of ways to help the staffing shortage, there are traveling nurses that could help as well as the National Guard. I hope I do have my facts wrong. This is the first time a majority of the staff have been tested. The letter that we received stated in all caps YOU CAN STILL WORK even if you test positive. So if tomorrow the test comes back positive and I continue to have no symptoms I am still working. And the other part of this is I can refuse to go to work if I test positive but I can't get unemployment now because there was nothing preventing me from going to work.
  19. First, let me know if this is in the wrong section...I could see this being in the political section as well. A certain long term care facility has recently tested every single staff member and resident for COVID-19 due to an executive order. Prior to this many of the residents and staff members have been infected with the virus and sadly resulting in many resident deaths. So the facility has stated that even if you test positive with COVID-19 you can still come to work and I am assuming that excludes people displaying symptoms. Even still, there are many residents who have not been exposed including people who have severe respiratory issues so those individuals contracting the virus would be a death sentence. The facility states it is because of a staffing shortage that they are having positive cases come to work! SO what has been the point of any of this for the last 3 months or however long it's been specifically at this facility and as well as the rest of the country continuing to shelter relatively healthy people and exposing the most vulnerable. Seems pretty f#$%*d up to me.
  20. Working in healthcare I have worked with patients and fellow coworkers who have ended up testing positive with the virus so no doubt I have been exposed. Because I had on PPE I had a low risk of exposure according to the facility I work for so therefore have not been tested...coming up on 4 weeks since the first case and I haven’t seen a masseur or escort since mid February.
  21. . Correct, there are some therapy companies that are not sending out their home health therapists and some assisted living facilities are not allowing therapy staff in...but we are all still labeled as “essential”.
  22. Sorry for your loss @Antonio1981, it's never easy losing a loved one. Sounds like this is a new stroke for your father? If that is the case I would hope whatever facility it is can provide more therapy than 4 days a week. Therapy is critical in recovering from a stroke, so hopefully physical, occupational, and speech therapies are all involved. Continuum of care facilities would be nice as bigjoey suggested but not every facility is like that and from what I have seen they seem to be the more expensive places. FYI most places are graded on the nursing care, not on therapy so it can be hard to find where the best therapy is...but I have never been to a building where they hated the therapy staff... And now because of Covid-19 I would assume that the facilities in your area are all on lock down, so getting skype or something similar will help with staying in touch with your Dad.
  23. I am mainly an introvert, so I value my alone time but I also need that social interaction with friends. Even a week without social interaction gets me stir crazy. So anyway you may not be 100% introverted but maybe 70/30?? If you take the Myers-Briggs personality test it can show your introvert/extrovert percentages.
  24. Thank you for the advice @Eric Hassan! I would say it is part I am wanting to run away because its unstable and things are changing and the other part is looking for a new opportunity. Never considered sex work to be honest but yeah therapists can handle just about anything including getting an elderly woman to get dressed in front of us!
  25. This is a sad reality all over, the minimum standards for nurses/aides to patients is like 1 to 10 (maybe that varies by state) and usually that isn’t a big issue in transitional because can get themselves up and dressed and let their needs be known but in long term care many require a lot of care and nursing staff don’t have a lot of time and rush through everything
