  1. I didn't know about this correspondent, or the story, but I just watched the video and it really sucks, and I'm not surprised. TV News was a public good (some here are old enough to remember that was a law), now it's simply one more way for large companies to make a little more money.
  2. No shit, especially given how hurt and frustrated many users were over the transfer of estate and power. I mention Hoo and AL as often as I (safely) can. And NOW, back to the thread about the questionable practices on a website (it's not this one) I dare not disparage, given I make a living advertising on it .
  3. I heard that at one of his stand up shows he read from a long book, Moby Dick maybe, and after 30 minutes or so he asked the audience if they'd like to continue hearing him read, or if they'd like him to play a record he brought along. Desperate, the audience voted for the record. He put it on....and it was a recording of him reading the same book from the exact spot he'd paused reading live. Of course he then left it playing, standing next to the player, holding his book not saying anything at all, for another 30 minutes or so. Then the show was over and he walked off after bowing, presumably. I don't know if this story is apocryphal, but it tracks and it's also quite amazing. As an experience for the audience, it's horrible because they are there, they are paying, to see a comic, and it's not funny. But as art, as a story to tell afterward, it's quite something.
  4. I saw that book at the bottom too. When I think of Captain Cook, my first thought is usually what he said about Antartica, Terra Australis. It was something along the lines of "I make bold to declare that nothing shall come from it." I quoted it in a paper of mine 32 years ago; online now, I can't find the quote.
  5. What I found most interesting about Christchurch was their response to that horrible earthquake. I don't particularly like the direction the city has taken, but I absolutely get it: money needs to be made, tourists need to come back.
  6. Well, if I say it, I'll get another fucking stupid mark on my profile, so....nope. Back to the funnies! It is Friday, after all.
  7. It was a wonderful trip. Thank you all for your suggestions and recommendations. For anyone who finds this thread later, 1. Do the Bungee Jump outside Queenstown, off the bridge; nobody who bungee jumps safely regrets it. Everyone who considers bungee jumping, then doesn't do it, regrets it. 2. Although the Botanical Gardens is amazing, you can skip Christchurch, but if you don't then the 6-hour drive b/w Christchurch and Queenstown is worth the time.
  8. I had no idea this was going on, really sucks. Years ago, Aaron Lawrence told Hooboy that his site couldn't accept payments from clients or escorts for exactly the reason you guys are laying out, undo pressure.
  9. I'm looking at all these (hot) self-promoting anchors and reporters and thinking to myself Ted Koppel must be turning in his grave. (I know he's not dead, wise-ass). I went to see him speak nearly 5 years ago and among the many wise things he said one boiled down to the impossibility of achieving Journalistic professionalism by those who routinely make themselves the story. Before I shifted into the sciences, I minored in journalism in the early '90s. We would argue as to the degree of unprofessionalism and ego* in Dan's Walk-off moment (see video). Now, look at the "journalists" *I think he was wrong. I also think he is a remarkable man and that CBS, in another matter, absolutely threw him under the bus.
  10. Dude, seriously. The other day for 7 minutes someone was in the only stall accessible without a key in my dentist's building. And I was standing right next to the stall, shoes visible, saying to the three or four people who came in "I'm just waiting for the stall, urinal is yours." Eventually, I said out loud, "You can check instagram at work like everyone else. Stop being so self-entitled"* (then I used the R word; I've gotten better and I'm really working on stopping that, I'm almost there. I absolutely agree that it is a very bad word regardless of how often we in the Midwest, and on the East Coast, I've heard, used to use it.). He did not look happy when he got out, quickly after. *Recently, I heard that "Self-entitled" is triggering because it's the "go-to" insult in Gen-X's quiver when arguing with Gen Y and Zillenials. That one I'm hanging on to. If it makes any difference, I use it against older and old people too.
  11. You can find rent-stabilized units in desirable parts of LA. It takes work, but it's doable. Also, we have the ocean and mountains and lots of cheap Asian and Latin food, and with Vito's and Joe's and Prince Street the pizza is as good as NYC, and I know where of I speak. Ice cream is expensive, but really, except for Rite Aid, ice cream in a cone is expensive everywhere now.
  12. Just finished this Gay Korean (most of it takes place in Seoul) novel. It did very well in Korea. It's Excellent. Love in the Big City READ.AMAZON.COM Free Book Preview from Kindle Review: Book Review: ‘Love in the Big City,’ by Sang Young Park - The New York Times WWW.NYTIMES.COM Sang Young Park’s English-language debut, “Love in the Big City,” is already a best seller in Korea. Great interview, he's adorable!
  13. Tips are nice, becoming a regular is much nicer. :-)
  14. I admire his ability to be quite sexually active quite late in life, I hate his books so very very very much. I enjoyed this thread a lot, thanks to everyone who contributed.
  15. I'm only 1/3 of the way through the thread, and so maybe this poster isn't even "here" anymore, (further, maybe it's suggested later in the thread that escorts don't chime in) I gotta ask, who the fuck are you hiring? Or, more importantly, why, if you've been threatened or felt threatened, in multiple situations, do you continue to hire non-vetted escorts? Unless he's off his meds, these situations would never happen with escorts who have good reputations. P.S. Ten minutes later I see I should delete what I just typed above, but I'll leave it just to shame myself. I'm living in the past, without Hooboy/Daddy Reviews how is anyone supposed to know who the Good-Reputation guys even are. Apologies, IGNORE ME! And, of course, I'm sorry those situations happened to you LaffingBear.
  16. Being a realtor can seem flashy, but doesn't necessarily require a college degree (as Lois in Family Guy called Real Estate, "Everyone's plan C.") And/or guys like SK and Kevin presumably accrued upfront money to start, and possessed acumen to grow, their rental armadas. Personal Training is also fairly accessible, and paralegal is like, what, 12 weeks of (hard) study? Nursing is fairly common for the ambitious, sharp, particularly compassionate, and maybe slightly masochistic retiring escorts.
  17. I only found this thread now, I don't look in the Financial Forum often. I hope you have had a good 2024 and have replaced some of those friends you lost to politics. Condolences on Mom's failing health and the loss of Dad (Father).
  18. yep, quite a body too. And just so fun. And a good good guy. https://web.archive.org/web/20080105111604/http://www.daddysreviews.com/review.php?who=eric_nyc
  19. Is that ript4hire, Eric? I don't remember him ever posting his face photo (where did you find it?!)? But I do remember his ears and of course, not pictured, the giant appendage that REALLY stuck out (like a baby's arm). Very very nice guy.

  21. Here you go, a solid playlist of 9 videos of Lower Back Exercises. Everybody loves Bob and Brad, me too!, but Physiotutors are my first go to for home exercises to assist with injuries. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/@Physiotutors For most injuries ice is only helpful for the first 48 hours, then heat is fine. I'm a big fan of mobic (rx only) over OTC NSAIDS, but that's just me. Even though I'm a masseur, or I was before my stupid Tennis Elbow, I suggest waiting longer than most people suggest before getting a massage, even from a non-erotic professional. Massage is best when the injury is no longer super acute. Anti-inflammatory pills, as tolerated, for a week or so, Ice for a couple days, then heat, gentle, proven, stretches after day two maybe. Once it's quite improved, then maybe a gentle massage. Then a deeper massage. If Hot tubs work at all, they are best for chronic, not acute, injuries. Feel better!
  22. I love his accent, where is that?
  23. Guessing I would get too dizzy and/or headache. Nytimes review wasn't kind. PASS. :-) But if I were a gamer, I'd keep my eye on it for sure.
  24. That's fantastic. As recently as April 2022 people were fucking there. Good for them. This spot, hardly anyone else goes anymore, but you should have seen that place before the 2009 Station Fire, like a prettier version of the 1978 Meatrack it was.
