  1. Loved her in The Leftovers, a tv show the New Yorker critic described accurately as "gorgeous and ambitious, but watching could feel like listening to Portishead while on codeine, recovering from surgery. (Which I’ve done; it has its charms.)" The Apocalypse According to “The Leftovers” | The New Yorker WWW.NEWYORKER.COM The HBO show portrays intimate grief lit by the flare of worldwide cataclysm. It’s about the end of the world, taken personally.
  2. Great show. Perfect ending. Was disappointed they didn't feature Taylor more strongly this season, was more of a background character, though there was a lot to handle so I get it. Clearly they're toying w/the idea of a spinoff in...Miami!
  3. I verified that :-)
  4. I used that on a short ferry from Santorini to Folegondros, but really how do you actually test it in preparation for a transatlantic cruise? There is nothing like a trans atlantic cruise for shear wave terror.
  5. Thank you everyone. When I said boat I meant Ship. BIG Ship like the ones discussed in this thread. :-) There's a lot of good advice, and I appreciate it, but I'm almost certainly gonna pass, I'm great w/pain, and a complete pussy when it comes to nausea.
  6. My partner has always wanted to take a Transatlantic Cruise on one of these larger boats, and I'm sure I would enjoy it as well, so much reading!, but I'm terrified of discovering I'm seasick and being stuck with it for a week! I know they have medications, but what could those medications be? Reglan is awful. Composine is dangerous. Zofran is ineffective so that is it, Dramamine, or that one that goes behind the ear? Those prevent motion sickness, if they work, but do you do when you are seasick and you can't leave the boat? The idea, the possibility, terrifies me.
  7. Japan. Not explicitly illegal and LOTS of options.
  8. Spent some more time reading about this video this morning (apparently I'm late to the party, it debuted in July). It's no surprise that the quilt at the end of the video is prominent (and if you read the YoutTube comments you can learn its significance) given that the person who wrote the video wrote a book, his debut book, Clay's Quilt, wherein Appalachian quilts are quite important. Here's a nice interview with the writer and the artist on NPR: Tyler Childers is back, and taking chances WWW.NPR.ORG The grassroots country star, whose fan base crosses lines of identity and politics, is releasing a song called "In Your Love," from a new album. Its video tells a...
  9. This is not the country music we grew up with, not musically and definitely not culturally.
  10. Hello all. I'll likely be visiting New Zealand in February (at the height of Snowboard season here in California? What the hell am I thinking?!!!). Plan to visit both islands. Hoping for more of a sites trip and less of an adventure trip, though I presume I will Bungee at one point. Just to do it. I'm not a vineyard, wine-tasting person. At all. And I'm not interested in the LOTR World. When in the South Island, I will probably do the obnoxious fly into Milford sound, take a boat trip, fly back to Queenstown same day to save some time. In the North Island, is the Glowworm cave worth it? Essentially, what I'm doing now in preparation, is pulling things from these two itineraries and trying to figure out what to cut out and, with your recommendations, what to add. THANKS! New Zealand Highlights Itinerary | New Zealand WWW.NEWZEALAND.COM This itinerary takes you through some of New Zealand’s most scenic spots over 14 days. Enjoy glowworm caves and geothermal wonders in the central North Island... 11. Forgot to thank everyone. Was a great trip. My only regret was not having time for Noto, I think I would have liked it a lot. Otherwise, saw and did everything I wanted to do and loved it.
  12. I wish the acting were better. It's an interesting subject. I purchased the memoir of the showcreator's obsession with an escort (haven't read it yet). But the acting, meh. I'm trying! Always when confronted with this period I ask myself, how the heck could Roy Cohen have done that to his own people? How?
  13. I am not familiar w/the kinds of Vibrators you are looking for, and I hope someone who responds is able to point you to others. I will add that if one of these Vibrators, or medication, or happenstance, or desire, or some or all of those things, gets you hard and you are alone, then I recommend above ALL other cock toys, The Handy. It is expensive. It is expensive. It is also, remarkable. Absolutely, fucking remarkable. Good luck and enjoy. https://www.thehandy.com/
  14. That's terrible(ly funny).
  15. Thank you. I decided against it. I've noticed in the past that sharp object induce in me a strong histamine reaction. I would feel quite upset if I spent the money only to find that it makes me itch! I suppose if that happened, I could simply return it. I just feel bad using something and then returning it. I am glad that it works for you. Seems as if everyone who has one, loves it.
  16. Read this on a flight back from NYC this week. Quite good. Amazon.com WWW.AMAZON.COM
  17. DaFuq? You had anal sex while still infectious? You shouldn't have even touched another person.
  18. Supposedly Geffen Referred Geoffrey Gavin Dillard to Diller, and they really hit it off. So, I guess it happens.
  19. Oh wow! Even though I read the article in June, I just revisited this thread, took another look at the article, and realized that The Story of Harold is on it. I thought Edmund White and I were the only people alive who know about this book. And I see that my Hardcover is now worth half a month's rent! Amazon.com WWW.AMAZON.COM
  20. Anything by Joseph Conrad or Thomas Hardy will rivet you. Also, Madame Bovary is devastating and wonderful.
  21. You're right, I guess I mean out in the world people I talk to, which is my own world so how would you know?? :-) But also, wasn't there another thread here about this book, or is this the only one? I might be thinking of somewhere else. Anyway, I love it, but I know many people who think it's crap.
  22. Movie is a bit of a downer, and so well acted. Hope they get good pair for the Stage.
  23. Boy did that get a good review this week! Review: ‘Merrily We Roll Along,’ Finally Found in the Dark - The New York Times WWW.NYTIMES.COM Jonathan Groff, supported by Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez, is thrillingly fierce in the first convincing revival of the cult flop Sondheim musical. So then I looked at tickets for when I'm in NYC this weekend. My goodness, it's been a few years, when did that happen to theater prices?
  24. Big Price Reduction on Amazon today/tomorrow, so now I'm wondering, if I am going to buy it, do I buy it today at a discount, or direct from the manufacturer with their Patagonia-like guarantee that I can return it any time for a full refund? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W3QW8QV/?coliid=IORA0BINKHW7N&colid=2CS1W0O6XH4I3&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  25. Good, but I wish it were better. Many eps felt thin and stretched. I loved the one w/the two murderer Hippie Lesbians, good actresses as well. Also, the Joseph G. Lev. ep was quite well done.
