I have dabbled in both scenes. The stringent screening process female escorts have can be daunting. But if you present yourself as a sincere and respectful gentleman, most ladies won't go so far as to ask for an ID.
 
Personally, I have not had to go to the extreme of sending my ID. Mostly because I know three ladies particularly well and they are able to vouch for me if I choose to see another companion (which is not often).
