  6. The Halocaust Museum is a Must See -Check in advanced for timed tickets Both the FDR Monument and Vietnam Memorial are pretty amazing - I find the Lincoln Memorial to be both dramatic and inspiring. You will want to come back and when you do leave time to see Jeffersons home Monticello - but with travel it is a minimun of 6 hours -- Of all the Smithsonian Museums I like the Aeronautical Museum best

  13. I had a friends who through the late 90s carried a hi-powered cordless drill in his fagbag and assorted door saws to cut/drill glory heads through wood/marble/metal wherever he felt one was missing . . . 16. Thanks -- I love the Red Poinsettias and it makes my home feel even more warm and comfortable and a wee bit joyous -- I have a friend who has a huge garden and a green house and as the poinsettias start to lose their color I pass them on to her to care for - and the following season when they bloom she gives them to shelters/food cupboards/etc to use as decoration or as take homes for those who have homes.
  17. Hey all most of us here are pretty fortunate and do okay financially. I don't know about you but I really Do Not Need anymore Materials possessions. I have done this for the last 5 or so years --- Telling friends - PLEASE Do not give me a gift - If you want to do something nice for me then donate to one or more of these kinds of charities in my name. If you are not aware I am a BIG Guy - and having to much food available has always been my problem. Depending on where you live the USDA estimates that between 1-in-6 to 1-in-8 Americans is "Food Insecure" not knowing where their next meal is coming from and/or lack access or resources to secure healthy food. Organizations like www.feedingamerica.org work with local partners like Philabundance in Philly to repurpose food from grocery stores/hotels/restaurants/conference centers/Colleges & Universities to feed those in need. In Philly www.Philabundance.org partners with nearly 500 agencies to provide more than 95,000 meals a week to those in need. The need is greatest over the holidays and summer when school breakfast and lunch programs are not operating. Feeding America estimates that $1 = 1lb of Food = 1-2 Meals. In this Country we waste nearly 40 million tons of food a year while people all around us are hungry -- Off Spec produce (i.e. Apples that are To Big/Mishapen/To Blemished) are dumped in Landfills by 10s of thousands of pounds each year - and that is only one example. So before you decline that Free Turkey or Ham from your grocery store === there are people in or near your neighborhood who desperately need that food to feed there family! So Please Before You Shop - Think About Where you Can Give to those who REALLY Need - Coats/Socks/Gloves/Hats are desperately needed this time of year. I was making a donation to Philly Thrift for AIDS and three homeless people asked if I had any gloves/hats or socks --- That I Could Share with them - because once things go into the store a price is assigned. To all of you Gentleman/Ladies and Those Who Have Yet to Make Up Their Minds - Take a Moment to make someone elses Life a little better Wishing you all Peace - Love - Health - Prosperity and Joy during the Holiday Season and Throughout the New Year
  18. I plug in the lights on the Ficus tree --- I put out the red poinsettias and around the living room and near the fireplace - put out the candles and I am done and happy
