The thread's title says more than we may realize about gay culture and sexuality today. Remember how rare it was to see flipping in gay porn? There were iconic stars like Jeff Stryker who would never bottom on camera. I remember a visit to Steamworks a couple of years ago where I couldn't help but notice how much the top only vs. bottom only roles of 30 years ago had blurred.

Bathhouses were in the decline before COVID due to real estate prices in some areas, hook-up apps, etc. COVID accelerated the trend. I don't think we'll see any new ones open up after it's over. In a similar vein, gay bars are declining in number and some will never re-open. It's unlikely that we'll see new ones opening up as younger gays don't frequent them. Have you any twenty-somethings singing show tunes in a piano bar lately? It will be interesting to see if the cruise ship business ever fully recovers.

I much prefer being the top with a sling. The bottom is comfortable and I can go from slow to fast, in & out to thrust, etc. When bottoming I like to see the top so on my back is preferable. What is the ideal initial message for an interested client to send a provider? I recently texted someone and got no response. I'm not sure if my message fell through the cracks or lacked appeal. I check out profiles to find a match. I then send a text indicating what I seek (top) and offer a brief description of myself (neg/prep/slim). Sometimes I ask about rate and location and sometimes I wait until I get a response. Is such a communication helpful or off-putting for the recipient? Suggestions welcome!

I feel cheated! My nipples don't get me excited. I envy guys who get turned on with nipple play. Recently, a visiting (Boston) provider quoted me 400 for an hour. He looked good and had good RM reviews but there were none on Daddy's and limited discussion here. Soon after a new guy with no record (no reviews, no discussion, new ad) quoted 300. If the first has a special niche and it works good for him but I'm not going there. The second is too much on a dare, he'd have to have good reports. Boston isn't a cheap city but hotel rates are presently way down. There are good providers in the area who charge less and offer what I'll call frequent flyer rates. (Hush!) Does anyone mind reporting rates quoted and the locations? Thanks

Heed David1024's hint! Hire an attorney. Not someone off a billboard. Find out, probably from a realtor, the name of an attorney or 2 who represent buyers and sellers in the area of your home. They know the issues, the language, the contractors, and the players. If you get a mortgage the closing attorney works for the lender not you. Protect your investment and your mental health!

Yeahman, I encourage you and other forum members to have a physician with whom you can be candid about your sex practices and who is culturally and medically current on gay health issues. It may be more challenging in rural areas and places with smaller gay populations but it matters. I am a bit more adventurous when traveling. It helps to be able to tell your doc what you did (baths, cruising areas, sex parties, and of course rentboys!) so he can advise you on STD tests, whether to get hep vaccines, etc.

My experience is similar to Sam. My MD explained 2-1-1 but I don't always plan ahead. Pre-COVID if I heard from a Scruff hookup or FB on short notice I was ready to go with daily. I stopped completely for a long time during the lockdown and will again if there's another outbreak. I don't take any other meds and have experienced no side effects with prep. Having lived through the HIV crisis I recognize the irony of being more worried about COVID than HIV.

I met nice guy at the beach in Provincetown this summer. It was a weekday and not crowded. After a few nods and smiles he moved his blanket near me and we chatted away. I get the New York Times daily. It has been frustrating to remain a print subscriber in recent months because of frequent delivery issues. If I end up a digital subscriber it will be a result of exacerbation. While the reporters and folks who run the presses are unionized, newspapers have contracted out delivery and it pays poorly.
