I don’t like being called daddy (or really even hearing someone else called daddy) in a sexual context. It brings back some bad memories of real-life child abuse from both my personal life and my professional life. I usually just say, “please don’t call me daddy” if I hear it. I’m always unsure if I should explain why I don’t like it or just let them think I might be sensitive about my age. I don’t mind it very much if it’s outside of a sexual context. If someone called me daddy when I picked up the tab at the restaurant, I’d just roll with it.

I own several Pelican Cases of various sizes. The Harbor Freight knockoff Apache cases would work too. If I host, I like to throw my valuables and sensitive data into a Pelican case then run a steel cable around something that would require tools to move (like the piping under the sink.) and connect the case to the cable with a sturdy padlock. If I visit rather than hosting, I do nearly the same, but I lock the cable to the child safety seat anchors in the hatchback of my SUV. Someone with a set of boltcutters or other special tools could steal my stuff, but someone won’t be able to grab-and-go without tools.
