Like I said. The information about the subject was the same 40 years ago, as it was today. My opinion is that Governments took advantage of the political climate and were happy to give mentally ill patients their "rights to self determination" because it was far cheaper than housing them, medicating them and feeding them. Sadly most ended up in jail where they were NOT cared for properly. Only fed and housed.
