What "self loathing " ? People are attracted to who they are attracted to. You can't apply modern social justice theory to sexual attraction. Sexual attraction doesn't spend time thinking about what's "fair" or equal. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11199-022-01332-y

When I was in High School, ( 1980s) nobody talked about being gay. But everyone knew who was gay. It's not that difficult. What you couldn't pick out were the bisexuals.

Very sad. I was just commenting yesterday about what a great space this was for young providers who can't host at home. I hope they are able to rebuild and restore the business. I have donated to their GoFundMe page. I hope others are able to be charitable as well. https://gofund.me/505fdc0b

What's wrong with Macy's ?

In fact the majority of gay men do NOT keep up with their HIV medications 100% of the time. The research paper I attached, shows that 100% dosage adherence is uncommon in the gay community. The statistic about Truvada being 99% effective is a distortion by Gilead to give a false sense of security in taking their medication. Efficacy in the general population is FAR lower, because the majority do NOT take their meds 100% of the time. Even with 100% dosage, the statistics still don't add up to 99% efficacy. Independent studies show a range from 95% to 97%. Unfortunately Gilead is a multi-billion dollar corporation and they do a lot to suppress independent study reports and when you request data on Google, the first few pages are Pharmaceutical sponsored with glowing reviews. It's only when you dig a little further down, that you find the actual data from independent research laboratories that paint a different picture of the risk involved.

I came across this article that I had saved. Obviously I don't save everything I read. HIV combination prevention strategies consisting of condom use, access to HIV preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP), postexposure prophylaxis and treatment-as-prevention with antiretroviral treatment (ART), contributed to the fall in new HIV diagnoses in men having sex with men (MSM) reported globally [1–3]. Oral PrEP as tenofovir disoproxil-fumarate (TDF)/emtricitabine (FTC) has been approved for a daily or ‘event-based’ dosing (EBD) around the time of a potential exposure to HIV. Its effectiveness in preventing HIV has been attested at 86% in trials [4,5] and as high as 95% when adherence is optimal Shover CL, Shoptaw S, Javanbakht M, Lee SJ, Bolan R, Cunningham N, et al. Mind the gaps: Prescription Coverage and HIV incidence among patients receiving PreP. AIDS Behav 2019; 23:2730–2740.

Condoms prevent more than just HIV. And people need to worry about more than HIV Syphilis is spreading in the gay community because of the prevalence of PreP and condom use is no longer standard. https://www.cdc.gov/std/syphilis/stdfact-msm-syphilis.htm

The data that indicate(s) prep is 99% effective is the data sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry Independent organizations come up with a different number. But as always...people will believe what make them happiest...so you do you. I will stick with the actual research numbers.
-
Then why did @BtmBearDad just indicate that both his doctor and his reading agrees with my statement ? So clearly I am NOT "spreading misinformation". You may be reading misinformation because the pharmaceutical industry likes to paint a rosier picture of their product.

I fail to see why you immediately assume I am "pretending". I am hardly here "from morning until night". I take mental breaks during the day to get away from paperwork, so I check various online chats that I participate in. It's five minutes here and there.

Ah. Well hello again ! Sorry, I over estimated the time passed and had you closer to 40 by now. I don't know why I remembered you telling me you moved here from Turkey. Just shows that I'm getting old and cant' keep my handsome companions straight in my head. Nice to see you're still well and in the business. Will have to reconnect some day soon.

Again...this is a discussion board, and not my college dissertation. I didn't include a bibliography. My comment stated clearly that this was my conclusion "from all the reading I've done". I didn't just read it today, so I don't have the articles at my finger tips, but I can say that I am not inclined to believe puff pieces. I also don't believe articles that are sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Industry. So you DO need to do some digging. If I have a minute, I will look to see if I did save any of the articles. Right now, I'm at work and just taking a lunch break.

From ALL the reading I've done the efficacy that the pharmaceutical companies taut is ONLY valid IF you never miss a single dose. Then the range is 97% to 99 % . ( Pharmaceutical company claims 99% while independent studies show 97% ). You need to dig a bit to find the independent studies because big pharma spends a lot to keep their data coming up first when you research. To me, 3% risk is still a risk. However topping as opposed to bottoming also reduces your risk.
-
Prep is never 100% effective and it's only 97% effective IF you take it 100% perfectly on schedule ( which virtually NO ONE does ). So yeah...if you KNOW someone is HIV positive and they just shot a load in your ass..you should probably wait to see if you got the bullet in your game of Russian PreP Roulette

So you're 14 inches hard ? 😳

What a shitty way to react to criticism

I am guessing Goecke's award winning 2015 choreography "Thin Skin" was autobiographical 😉 -
No I literally have no idea how one has anything to do with the other.
-
No. But they were pretty irregular in their doses. Gilead likes to promote their 99% efficacy number but what they don't tell you is that it's actually 97% in independent trials and that's ONLY when you take it 100% daily ....which 77% of gay men DO NOT !!! https://www.poz.com/article/iPrEx-OLE-results-25922-2484
-
NO. Gay men like to pretend they have no idea what that means. Ignoring something doesn't make the obvious not obvious to others.
-
True. But again... after going through thousands of condoms. I've never had one tear. Did one ever leak a drop of cum ? That I wouldn't know. Have I ever experienced a complete failure ? No. ( and I was a complete WHORE in my 20s )
-
My personal experience would be the other way around. Bisexual men advertising as "straight" is a successful marketing tool for part of the marketplace of men who have sex with men. I am attracted to masculine straight acting men, and turned off by effeminate gay acting men. So I'm part of the audience they are marketing to.
-
At my age, I must have gone through thousands of condoms. I've never had one "fall off". I literally have no idea how that would happen. As far as the occasional torn condom, since I'm 99% top, that's really not my problem. ( and I am HIV negative so it's not theirs either) but for most people, yes. Point taken. Doubling up on your protection is smarter than relying on everyone popping their pills religiously.
-
This is a fine example of why I just assume everyone is HIV positive and never fuck without condoms. It's completely irresponsible behavior but you can't prevent this in other people, you can only control what you do to protect your health.
