Egypt consistently rates as highly dangerous on the travel advise websites. Lately it's been better. So maybe a pocket of time to slip in. Beyond PDA I would suggest that when traveling any Muslim country, you have a backstory that avoids any perception of "sinful relationship" to your companion. Always separate beds and make sure the maid doesn't know you only slept in one.
