While I have contemplated it, I’ve never pulled the trigger for this gent. I agree he comes across quite charming in the interviews I’ve seen, and while his blessing is outside my experience, I was willing to give it the one college try! But I think someone must have shared something with me that held me back. For some reason I’m thinking maybe a member here shared something - in a post or a PM - or maybe it was fellow hobbyist not on here - I want to say what was shared swayed me against engaging. I can’t for the life of me recall what it was, but I would guess it had something to do with his own body type, body size, age preferences 🤷🏼‍♂️ For those who have been there, anything like this sound possible?

I know I am probably an outlier on this, but a small number of reviews, or no reviews at all isn’t necessarily a red flag for me. I know from providers I have been with, some don’t really want a review. One gent who was my go-to, regular guy in London explained when I inquired “why not” that this was a side gig for him - he had a corporate job, his own personal life, and didn’t want to be inundated with requests. Basically he loved sex, was excellent at the services he provided, and was happy with a circle of regulars that gave him a few thousand pounds extra income a month. Of course, I’m still going to vet the gent on here before I engage, but all things being equal, I wouldn’t automatically dismiss a provider over lack of or no reviews. There are also certain members on here that if they post a yea or nay on a provider, that’s good enough for me. Cheers, BBD

As I posted in the thread on the provider in question, I’m so sorry this happened to you, @ttm269. Unfortunately, you’re not the first, and won’t be the last hobbyist to have such a nasty, frightening experience. I echo what have said, I doubt he will follow thru on his threats - I’m sure he’s already targeting his next mark. While this is in no way meant to chastise, I would offer the following advice: • Always use this forum to vet any provider you may be interested in. Always. Even if your fellow hobbyists have no direct experience with the fellow in question, you can always frame your inquiry so that they can also recommend other, similar providers with the same “look”, offering the same services. Something like “Any first hand info on Provider X? If not any other recommendations for guys with the same general look/build/etc in the area who are top/btm/vers, and offer x/y/z?” You may very well find a provider that ticks all your boxes, and have some assurance the provider comes recommended, and is not a scammer. • Whenever practicable, always try to meet first in a public location. This way if he is not the gent in the pics, or if the pics are so outdated or photoshopped, or you just get a bad vibe, you can extricate yourself quickly and safely. • Cash is king. Just have enough cash on you to cover the agreed on fee, and a bit more should you opt to tip. I know some hobbyists who won’t even bring their wallet/cards with them if they’re meeting a provider at their location, and if they’re hosting will hide any personal, and valuable items. Personally, I don’t go that far, but I don’t have providers I’m meeting for the first time at my home - no matter how highly recommended they’ve come. Again, very sorry this happened to you. I do chat with a few members on here, and as has been said by others, I do think they’d be fun to grab a drink with, and have a natter. Same for some members I’ve not had one-on-one chats with, but enjoy their posts. There are a few former members I have met, that do still enjoy this hobby, so we chat via text and e-mail, and about more than just this hobby. One funny “meeting” from a number of years ago - a friend of a friend was having a party, my friend invited me to come with. Fun crowd, and I wound up chatting at one point with this fellow who similarly was a platonic plus one for his friend, so neither of us really knew anyone at the party. Anyway, we chatted, exchanged some snarky comments and laughs, and flirted in that habitual way gay men do where there’s no real intent behind the flirt. Fast forward, sometime later I replied to a thread on here, and I received a private message from another member “First name, is this you?” Yes the fellow I met at that party was a fellow hobbyist and member. I asked what prompted him to think it was me, he said it was a phrase I used that night that I also used in my post that made him think BBD could be me. So began our friendship. He’s no longer on here, in fact he moved out of the country some years back. He’s loving life, still a hobbyist, and we’ve kept in touch thru the years. I also have a memory of a kind of ad hoc get together in Vegas. This would have been back in the HooBoy days. I was in Vegas for a bachelor party, and had declined to join the boys on yet another visit to the strip club, so in my room at loose ends thinking “hmmm perhaps I’ll see what’s out there”. Even tho I was barely 30, I had picked up this hobby already. There was a previous post about Vegas, how some gents were meeting at X bar that evening. I thought why not! I went, in my memory there were maybe 8-10 gents, and I was, as you can imagine, by far the youngster in the group. It was fun putting faces with names, I got some good intel, and it was just a fun night overall. Cheers, BBD

I haven’t been to Australia in a number of years, but the memories of the men I got to know, and even those I just saw on the street, in the pub, at the beach, remain with me. Taking a gander at the other listings on RM does make me crave a return visit! Once upon a time, the firm I was then with approached me about possibly relocating there - while I was onboard with the idea, alas it never came to fruition. 🤷🏼‍♂️ On occasions such as this, I do ponder the “what if’s” 🤔

This gent is not only a handsome guy, but he looks incredibly familiar to me. Not from RM either. I have a feeling I’ve met him socially - and more than once 🤷🏼‍♂️ This will frustrate me now lol If anyone has any idea of his social media presence do hit me up with a DM. Oddly enough, this is the second time in as many weeks I’ve come across a profile on RM of a gent I know in real life. In the first instance, I’m very good friends of many years with his partner - so his RM profile was a bit of a shock to say the least. Not knowing what’s known and unknown there, I of course am staying schtum. Anyway, this whole “where/how do I know him?” Is going drive me spare! So anyone have any insight, do let me know. BBD

Just a random question I thought I’d throw out here - when perusing providers on RM, I do expand reviews to see what’s been said. Sometimes, I will click on the user/client profile to see who else they have reviewed. This is both to check how much weight to give a review, (a one off vs a prolific hobbyist), and also I like to see who else they have reviewed that I may have missed in my own searches on RM (this is due to the fact they’ve reviewed someone I’d consider “my type”, so my thought process goes that we may share a type). This has worked in the past, found some gents I otherwise wouldn’t have, and struck up a few RM friendships with other hobbyists over shared interests/types. However, I have noticed on some user/client profiles, their reviews aren’t listed as they are on most others. Is this something a user/client can block or otherwise hide from public view? Colour me curious, BBD

While there are some providers who are picky in terms of the gents they’ll engage with - whether it’s age based, body type, ethnicity, et al, I’ve never encountered it. I’d say the ones advertising with a list of “onlys” and/or a list of “no’s” are the ones to avoid. I don’t send a request or ask to unlock without some communication first. If I like a gent’s profile, I’ll send a message, (either on RM or text, depending on whether he states a preference in his profile - sometimes both), if I get a reply, and we’re on the same page re:scheduling, then I’ll say something like “may I see your other pics?” or similar. Often times, I don’t need to as the gent has unlocked them himself. I do not think it’s an age thing at all - I think providers read/reply to the manual messages over the automated ones as the former at least give an indication a client is serious vs an automated message which may result in an “ugh another pic collector” reaction from the provider. I think the fact @Axiom2001 you’re a premium member says to the provider that you’re serious, you do hire, and you’re not just a pic collector type, so your automated message request to unlock carries more weight than one from basic member “Joe Soap”. Just my tuppence on this topic. BBD

That was my point - a poster upthread remarked how one could easily tell the gay guys from the straight guys, another replied rather tongue in cheek, how could one tell if all were in the same room, thus my snarky reply - directed at the first poster’s statement.
