From a boozey conversation with a very good friend, and fellow hobbyist - do the gents you engage in this hobby reflect the gents you date, hook up with, are partnered with in your real life? My friend as an example is married to a regular, run of the mill white guy. Pale, smooth, slightly built, and handsome enough. But in this hobby, my friend searches exclusively for hairy, thick, bearish/muscle bear types. We also have a mutual friend who possesses a DOD, and has always been all top in his relationships, but in this hobby he puts the “pow” in power bottom, engaging total tops only, (usually more than one in a session). Is it just a case “getting what you can’t get at home” or am I missing something? For me, there’s definitely overlap between the gents I engage, and the men I date, hook up with, have been in relationships with. It’s not 100% by any means, but if you lined up the last 3 guys I engaged with 3 guys I’ve dated, they may not look alike, but there would be similarities. Thoughts?

Sexuality runs the gamut whether it’s preferences in partners or preferences in practices. I don’t buy into the argument that labels don’t matter. Otherwise, one’s preferences aren’t allowed to matter, and you’re expected to be all things to everyone. However anyone wishes to identify themselves sexually is OK, just respect it. What you may think about their self identity is another matter. Do I find some straight guys hot? Absolutely! Both providers and IRL. But, in this hobby, I wouldn’t look to engage a straight provider - but that’s more about my “shop local” thing. Could that change? Possibly. I may not be looking for a straight provider, but if the gent ticks all the boxes otherwise, I could be open. Straight guys IRL are another matter. Unlike some other guys I know, I’d never make that first move - I figure if he wants it, he can make the first move, which has happened, and which has resulted in some fun times. At the end of the day, each of us like what we like for whatever reasons. I may not get the whole strictly focused on straight men only thing, but I also don’t get some of the practices gay men engage in with other gay men. As long as it’s legal, (this hobby notwithstanding), no one is getting hurt, and the parties come out of it satisfied, go for it! Just my tuppence. BBD

It’s a scam, it’s not new, and it’s not just limited to Grindr. I’ve gotten similar messages on all the apps, and regular social media. The pics are always of a handsome, hot guy; the messages are full sentences, that quickly move into talk of love, an LTR, etc.. In the past the guy has claimed he’s in the army, on deployment. During covid, I had a few where the claim was to be “stranded” abroad during lockdown. The scammer usually tries to move the conversation off the app or platform you’re messaging on to something like Google chat. Regardless of who is in the pics, I’m sure the person on the other end is typing from some data mining boiler room in Lagos. Just block them, and move on 👍🏻

I agree! Especially in NYC! I’ve come across a few ads on RM in other cities, sometimes in places that made me wonder “why did you pick X to emigrate to?” for the OTB ones. Thanks for the rec - Irish or not, he’s hot, and that’s one helluva shillelagh he’s carrying! 😜He’s definitely on the list - maybe a search for “gingers” in NYC is in order too.

Given that Friday is St Patrick’s Day, I thought I’d try, and treat myself to a bit of the auld sod this weekend 😜 I turn to you my fellow hobbyists for any recommendations you may have for any Irish providers in NYC. Ideally said provider would be a top, interactive, into kissing, rimming, oral, and a generally fun/nice gent. Hairy is always a plus, as is a beefy/muscley build. What say you, gentlemen? Probably a stretch, but I thought I’d toss the net out, and see what I get. Just circling back with an update - I did have my dr check my testosterone. It’s not low - 615.32 was the result, which Dr advised was a good number for 50+ 🤷🏼‍♂️ When I inquired about hair loss, he confirmed my suspicions - 25+ years of wearing over the calf dress socks and suit pants have had an impact on my leg hair. Given the rest of my body hair (bush, bum, torso, forearms, pits, face, and head [even with monk’s cap]) is all full, I shouldn’t worry. BBD

You have him in one! 😉 He has an OF - google “Clark Reid”. He’s a proud muscle bottom, with a decided preference for smaller built twink/twunk tops! And yes, he has been letting his natural body hair grow out 👍🏻 This is the boyfriend - something hot about a big muscley guy being an enthusiastic bottom for a smaller built guy!

Both gents are part of (were part of) the whole “Andy Lee Gang”. Andy knew them IRL and recruited or otherwise enticed them to join him in making content on his platform. They’ve since branched off to their own platforms, which apparently blew up their friendships with Andy (I’m embarrassed I know all this 😂). Both Liam and Harry (and others Andy has recruited) play into the whole chav/builder bloke/wide boy fantasy. Ink (and Turkish teeth) notwithstanding, I agree with @Lazarus - both are damn hot. I wonder how interactive and open they are? Harry for one has a most delectable looking hairy arse! Definitely interested in any feedback from any gents who book one or the other or both 👍🏻 BBD
