1. Nice plug of yourself, Josh! Now I'll just go off and start imagining.
2. I wasn't given a choice but some years ago an ATM in Quito did that. Another, in Peru, gave me 100 and a collection of smaller notes when I withdrew USD200.
3. I always relied on ATMs for travel funds as they give amongst the best exchange rates. In the US they always seemed to be limited to 20s. These days I use cards for most things but that's not usually an option for hiring. That's why I started changing money at the airport (here they offer a reasonably good rate for large transactions and a better one if you order on line for collection there). I'm glad more US banks offer more options from their ATMs now.
4. Have people tried paying for an overnight with 20s? To answer the original question, hiring and ATM withdrawals are both infrequent enough that there is not yet any Pavlovian response generated. My more recent hires have involved the foreign exchange counter at the airport more often than an ATM.
5. Not quite, 'watch thread' alerts you every time someone posts there, 'breadcrumbs' means he can ignore comments from day to day but come back to the thread when he's ready.
6. I didn't expect you would share any details, and in case it wasn't clear, I think what your escort told you is completely appropriate. If I tell some random that I didn't like escort X, he has no business telling anyone else what I said.
7. It means he's leaving a trail (a la Hansel and Gretel) to find a thread he's interested in. He can now search his own posts for the word 'breadcrumbs' to find threads he wanted to remember.
8. Posting a new item to a thread boosts it up the forum list. If you have nothing specific to say, but want to elevate the thread, you 'bump' it up the list.
9. This is a different thing to a client obtaining an assessment from another client and passing that opinion on. Unacceptable in my view. Of course, if you have told the escort the same thing that you later tell a potential client, the escort won't be surprised, but even then the potential client has no business telling the escort who passed judgment. If you have a regular relationship with an escort, and he is told something negative about you, I see no reason for him not to push back or even tell you what had been said. You and he have the relationship, the other person is just some random.
10. I'm just imagining walking up that stairway, 'Oh, I'm so sorry sir, I seem to be interrupting something!'
11. The complements of the season, if you are celebrating your family or your faith at Christmas, or both, Happy Christmas. If you are marking any other event in this season of holidays, may those celebrations be joyous and happy. If you are facing travel to loved ones or merely the vicissitudes of the weather, stay safe. (Stay safe in that too!)
12. Short answer, 'Yes'! (And I haven't even done the audition to join the fan club yet.)
13. I'd say yes, but the guy attached to the however-many-inches/cm is what matters more. One day I'll be able to make more than a theoretical assessment!
14. I guess from that, one person in a pairing cannot be interactive, they can only be willing to be. Or not.
15. Happily, this is fake news.
16. I hope you do attend, @peterhung85!!
17. The USA certainly doesn't suck at football, it's the vagaries of the qualification system. The US had a perfect storm, T&T beat them, and on the same day, against the odds Panama and Honduras beat the top two qualifiers (Costa Rica and Mexico) pushing the USA into fifth position on the table. And Italy and the Netherlands also failed to qualify, and Iceland did qualify.
18. You're quite correct that time off work to watch the US national team play in the world cup won't be a thing, but not so much because you don't care much about soccer. Of course, many hyphenated Americans may well take time off if their other country is actually playing in Russia.
19. Damn, way to make me regret not meeting you for a coffee @Lance_Navarro when I was in SF this year. Not that a coffee would, perhaps, have been the end of it.
20. Meh, ditch Derek Atlas, just call @peterhung85 (Disclosure: I have not met the gentleman, I have only interacted on-line. I am convinced.) ps. @JoshATX doesn't look too bad either.
21. Both of which are created for our public sector broadcaster, not a commercial network. The sort of productions that for-profit networks tend not to do.
22. https://twitter.com/BoringEnormous/status/940603589571039233 A story in four acts: 1. 2. 3. 4.
23. Swoon!!
24. I saw that in the Oxford definition, but it doesn't say 'pejorative'. And it shouldn't. We need terms that are descriptive of characteristics that happen to be associated with ethnic groups without them being considered to be slurs.
25. In Australian English [and British], the word 'nappy' (as a noun) is what Americans would call a diaper. I rarely have nappy feelings, although at times I feel as if I need a nap.
