Hard pill to swallow. Aint' that the truth.
That other side of the coin is: Nobody's gonna give a shit to a provider if they're not young and hot.

Just one of the recent year's freshman crop. We just get older, they stay the same age. Just wait another year, we'll have another crop coming in. Alright, alright, alright.

So deep.... I appreciate poetry, and yours is something I haven't ran into. Had to ask technology to breakdown its eloquentness:
"This quote seems to suggest that when the metaphorical "rain" or difficulties in life pass, the protection or support offered by something, like an umbrella, may no longer be needed and could even feel burdensome. It could be about letting go of unnecessary safeguards or dependencies once the situation improves."

With the young and beautiful, once the rain is over, an umbrella, however nice, becomes a burden.

While some providers are kind and good-hearted people, a majority are not. Many are "entrepreneurs" turned on only by the easy money. Others have figured a way to scam older, often mild-mannered, sensitive, and kind but vulnerable gay old men who are often lonely.
I have learned this lesson the hard way.
Look out for yourselves out there, guys. Without money, nobody's gonna give a shit when you are old and frail.

As my father once said to me when I asked for a loan, "Son, if the bank doesn’t think you’re a good risk, why the fuck should I?"
He had a point and I learned a lesson.
Whenever someone asks me for a loan, I either say "no" or I give them the money and never expect it back. I will not ask nor hint to be repaid. I will however, never make another "loan" until the first one is repaid.
So far that has worked for me. I’m not an ass about helping others. But I’m also not a sucker. And in general our friendships have remained intact. Whether or not they repaid me.

Like others have said, you've been scammed. This is more typical in the hetero world. One of my former friends started seeing a female stripper more often and they formed some rapport—am sure sex got exchanged at one point. One day, she opened the topic of financial difficulty. The rest pretty much ended up the same way in your story.
This is more common in the hetero-world because of the inherent "damsel in distress" and here's the "knight in shining armor" to save her day. In the LGBTQ world, similar can be said, but we fail to recognize it because we rarely hear such stories about a guy being the "damsel in distress" who's faking it just to steal from the knight.

Chalk it up as a lesson.
    "Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry."

Gentlemen, There is already a moderator’s warning in this thread to stay on topic and to stop the bickering.
This is a great topic so let’s not discuss personal off-topic issues on it.
    Thank you! 🙏

But you can’t fault him for not being upfront and direct!
His profile description translates to “looking for a human ATM!” For something like that he would probably have more luck with Seeking Arrangements. He wants a sugar daddy.
    “I’m pretty. Pay me!”

All interesting stuff here.     There are so many Guys out there that are so better looking and not even advertising that are certainly NOT 1k to meet.    I have an amazing Stud coming to Vegas and a Hot Model coming to Paris and Positano  But that’s why there is chocolate and vanilla

Unfortunately, for us who have regularly engaged in the hiring game, this is part of the deal: men (and women) who “borrow” money or expensive items with no real intention or reasonable means of ever paying you back.
And there are those out there who would prefer to stop all communication with their lender than have to face the fact that they can’t it refuse to reimburse them or return what they borrowed.
You met one of those. There are plenty more out there just like him. Only lend what you can afford to lose, or make it a policy never to lend at all (and risk whatever perception they will make of you in the process).

100% not true as it relates to Thermas, in my experience
the good guys will take almost 95% of clients, but there are always a few clients that stand out as potential problems & the best guys don’t lack for options - they just don’t want to deal with bad people at any price.
The working guys are generally open to all ages, ethnicities, body types & specific requests - it’s a bad attitude that is the deal killer.  Because they know a potential client w a bad attitude will never get better, only worse.
There are different types of guys working in the sauna & you will be sorted accordingly. You won’t be aware of it, but that’s what’s happening behind the scenes. Frequently, the clients w bad attitudes get bad experiences….because the guys think that person deserves it and their performance really doesn’t matter.

go with an open mind, reasonable expectations, a good attitude & money - you will find what you want at Thermas.

Thanks! I'm guessing the environment is like a typical bathhouse in the USA, but the only difference is that the providers are also in the bathhouse? Since, everyone will be naked or in towels, is it possible to mistake a customer from a provider then? Or is there anything that will help you identify customers vs providers (eg, wristband with a key)?
