We watched this today. It was a bit awkward as we wanted to like it, but it was pretty uneven. At times too silly, at times too serious, and neither times were all that great. But the movie has heart and some skin. Joel Kim Booster was charming.

When he canceled several shows this week for health reasons, it was unclear what the specific problem is. I had booked a hotel along Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica, CA, for when it is very hot here. It wasn't cheap. Then I started looking around, and found that my hotel was rated #21 of Santa Monica hotels. So I wondered what it would cost to stay in the hotel rated #1. To my surprise, it was half-price!!! Yes. It was a special rate, and no, it didn't give you an ocean view room. But I would be across the street from the ocean and could see it anytime I wanted to. So, I canceled hotel #21 and saved over $1000 over their price with hotel #1. Surprising, huh? You wouldn't find the rate unless you actually went to their website. No other booking sites had it. It was so surprising that I called the hotel to verify it. They said yes, that's an available rate.

A little off-topic, but I am wondering if I can buy a nonsmart phone for someone who just needs the basics.
