This may sound weird but this year I’m celebrating NYE at my parents. Dinner will be slow roasted pork shoulder, Apple Jicama salad and vegetable fried rice after we watch the ball drop at midnight. At my age I feel lucky I still have them with me

Quiet dinner at home with very small group.
Smoking some Coho Salmon with light apple wood smoke outside right now, some green onion/egg/pea stir fry rice on the side. Plus a little dill sauce I do from scratch (for the heathens)

i usually do a crispy skin duck breast and take advantage of the duck fat to crispy-cook thin potato slices.... but this year a special request for crispy pork belly with a sweet-spicy thai chili sauce.
 
when it's 8 degrees outside in NYC it is nice to be at home!

Done and dusted, it's coming up to midday on 1 Jan 18. NYE was a lamb roast with scalloped potatoes and vegetables, a nice shiraz and then sit and watch the NYE cricket game from Adelaide on the TV. I hear rainbow colours featured on the Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks.

I'm home with my eldest, the twins are going to different parties with their girlfriends. We'll have crabcakes and asparagus, and watch Thin Man movies on TCM. I love Nick and Nora's Christmas Eve cocktail party, so I go there vicariously!

For those who don't like or don't have any interest in New Years Eve, I can understand that, however for myself, I love NYE. It has nothing to do with expectations of a celebration that everyone else is doing, it is a genuine celebration for myself, that I made it through the year. As I've gotten older, I tend to appreciate the time I have left, the days that are given to me, the friends and family that are still around. It's a time where I can, for a brief moment, look back and be thankful for a life well lived. Even now as sign off this thread and get ready for the evenings festivities, I look out the window, and still can't believe sometimes that I live here. I am blessed beyond measure, and count each day as a blessing.

I think adults are free to choose to do what they wish to. I just have no desire to have any association with PnP so I'll be looking at the smaller set of guys who don't.

And for me, if someone lists it in their profile (or as something they'd be into), it is a deal breaker. Just had that this past week.
 
There is a difference between saying "No PNP" and just not listing it as something he's "Into".

Any association with drugs (even if they say it’s just their clients) for me is a non-starter no matter how attractive someone. So from my perspective the number of companions seem to be shrinking. Curious what others think.
