  1. I think they were probably understating the amount of enjoyment they get from poking another man. I can't imagine that it isn't about as much as beating off or playing with a toy like a fleshlight. I think it is true though that they are mostly into the act, the sensation and their own fantasies and not much into their partner.
  2. Was it hot, or just interesting?
  3. Congratulations!!
  4. What does that 5 servings of fruit do for your waistline?
  5. Iuo Gay men have been having sex with women, probably for millenia. Why is it so unbelievable that a straight guy could have sex with another man. Supposedly, it happens all the time in prison.
  6. I don't flirt much, but if there's a guy I'm curious about, I smile and say hi. If he smiles back, I offer him my hand and introduce myself. That's about it for the first time. Second time around, I try to strike up a conversation. I've gotten to know a lot of interesting men this way. Ordinarily, even somebody really attractive, I'm not that interested in sex with. I have a 24 year old workout partner who is a complete stunner, and this is just the way I met him. On about our third encounter, I said, "Would you like to get a workout in sometime?" We exchanged numbers and we've been working out together every week for a while.
  7. No it was about the evils of sugar. But such a topic will inevitably meander, possibly to include the subject of calories and weight gain. And of course, one of the most commonly cited evils of sugar is the fact that it is empty calories, having no other nutritional value than its calories.
  8. I would say that he's eating far too much.
  9. Once I get going, it's hard to step down off of the soapbox.
  10. I specified "the single most important thing." "But don't eat fruit" is a second thing. I believe, (and this only my belief, albeit a well-informed belief) that even on the crappy diet you described, losing an appreciable amount of bodyfat would produce objective and subjective improvements in the guy's health. I completely agree that the degree of improvement would be limited by the guy's crappy diet, but I think he would feel better and objective measures of health such as his blood pressure and lipid profile would improve.
  11. If I were a physician and I had an overweight patient and the patient asked me, "Doc, what is the single most important thing I can do to achieve a healthier weight," I would tell him to eat less. I wouldn't tell him to eat more fruit.
  12. And human bodies are subject to the Laws of Thermodynamics. I'm not arguing that other aspects of nutrition aren't vital to health. I'm arguing that it's all for naught in the absence of moderation. I saw a young man over Thanksgiving, whom I have known since he was approximately ten years old. He has always been on the chubby side. The last several years he has got religion about eating right and goes to rather extreme lengths to eat clean. The thing is, when I saw him over the holiday, he was the heaviest I've ever seen him. When he got religion about eating right he some how missed the Gospel of Moderation.
  13. And yet, on a diet of Big Macs, the individual, if he reduced the number of big Macs he ate in a day enough to produce a calorie deficit, he would lose weight.
  14. But you can effectively neutralize the positive effect gained from the smarter choices by consuming the smarter choices in excess. Moderation is an important element of any healthy meal plan. I think even Gary Taubes would agree with that.
  15. Calories are calories, whether they come from bluberries or cheese danish. If one consumes enough fruit to create a calorie excess, he will gain weight. My fitness coach just designed a weight gain diet for me. Where did some of the excess calories come from? Fruit and fruit juices.
  16. I don't understand that. Insulin is produced by big biotechnology companies like Genentech from genetically modified bacteria in big fermentation vats. If you need more, bring more production facilities online. Especially since they just got more than 10 years' advance notice of the need.
  17. Choosing gifts for somebody you don't know very well is dicey. There's a very high risk of getting something they can't use or don't like. Cash is best. Gift cards are a good alternative.
  18. Don't diminish your accomplishment by adding the qualifier "for my age." There are all kinds of "looking good." If you look good, you look good.
  19. Carbonated drinks in general aren't good. The carbonic acid is bad for your tooth enamel and it can leach calcium from your bones by altering your blood pH. I drink 2 or 3 diet cokes in a week. I have seen articles that say that any sweet drink, whether sweetened with sugar or an artificial sweetener can contribute to insulin resistance.
  20. I went to a barber shop for the first time in years a couple weeks ago. He buzzed my hair, trimmed my beard and eyebrows, and when he was done, I looked fabulous. He charged me 50.00 and I tipped him 10.00. He seemed happy to get it. I got the impression that he doesn't get that sort of tip very often. I think I want to see him regularly. It feels like a total luxury to have a barber trim my beard.

  22. One of the classiest responses to a negative review thatvI ever saw was posted on here by Kobe Rafael. It wouldn't surprise me if he saw an uptick in business from it.
  23. What I find with ordering scrambled eggs in restaurants is that they usually overcook them. Good soft-scrambled eggs are somewhat of an art. I don't eat breakfast out very often because it's become so absurdly expensive. There's something wrong with paying $40.00 or more for breakfast for two.
  24. I love cashew cheesecake. I've only made it once because it was so much work, but it was really oustanding. We used to have a natural foods bakery here , called "Now and Zen." Their cakes had a distinct health foodey taste to them, but once you got used to that, I thought they were really great. I think you could use cashew butter as a shortcut for the cheesecake.
  25. Changing tastes and habits isn't that hard. When I was in junior high school, my mother read an article in Reader's Digest about how unhealthy sugary breakfast cereals and white bread were. She decided we were done with them. She started buying oatmeal, shredded wheat, cheerios and whole wheat bread. We HATED it. But she wouldn't give in. A couple times my father brought white bread home and she chewed him a new asshole. Eventually, we could see she wasn't giving in and we started eating the Cheerios and the oatmeal and whole wheat bread. We didn't like it but we did it. And the longer we ate it, the more we developed a taste for it. After some months, we didn't even miss the old stuff.
