That is correct. It's based on interactions. The default "starting" rank is "Newbie". As you do various activities on the site such as start new topics, reply to topics, get/give reactions, you gain points that move your virtual rank up. The "Newbie" note you saw earlier was shortly after the upgrade completed, but before the system had a chance to actually go back and count all of the activity on the site over the last 20 years or so. (That is actually STILL going on. We're only about 65% done counting right now.) Your rank as of right this second is "Enthusiast". Like I said, the system is still counting all of the posts, topics, reactions, and the various things that score points based on the thread. That's why I mentioned that for a short period of time, EVERYONE was a newbie.

Your reputation score is different than the achievement points. I just checked and even had the system actually recount your score for you. I show it as 700 with 402 posts. You can see exactly how this was calculated from your profile page: https://www.companyofmen.org/profile/3337-hotwhitethirties/reputation/ You'll see how many of each reaction you've received. As you click through each of the various types of content (topics, posts, status updates, etc), you'll see the exact what triggered each individual scoring decision. If there was a different number listed before, it was inaccurate so I apologize if there was a misunderstanding.

Absolutely. It’s not a competition. This is just something fun and a way of noting the top contributors to the site.

@marylander1940@jjkrkwoodand @WilliamM now make up our top 3. Remember... the system is counting oldest to newest, so those that have more of their content later will move more as the counting completes. This isn't the 2000 election, it's playing out more like the 2020 election.

Reaction points did not change from this morning. It's been the same since we moved to IPB. Like, Thanks, Haha, and Applause are considered "positive" reactions and are worth 1 reaction point. All other reactions (verbose, sad, confused) are considered neutral and do not add or subtract reaction points. Since moving to IPB, we have not had any reactions assign negative points.

We're at 62%. So it's not going to be too terribly long.

Carl Nassib’s historic coming out on Monday is still sending shockwaves through the sports world and beyond. Nassib became the first active NFL player ever to come out as gay and is expected to become the first out gay player to play in an NFL regular-season game when he suits up for the Las Vegas Raiders later this year. Just as good, his NFL compatriots have been overwhelming in their support for him since the news broke. Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis voiced his support for Nassib in a statement to ESPN. “It’s 2021. All the more power to Carl. It doesn’t change my opinion of him as a person or as a Raider,” Davis said. Raiders head coach Jon Gruden also chimed in with kind words for Nassib, saying, “I learned a long time ago what makes a man different is what makes him great.” Notable among the current NFL players that responded was New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley, who played with Nassib in college at Penn State University. Click to Page 2 and learn: Who is matching Nassib’s donation to Trevor project?; What is Nassib’s political party? How long will it be for his jersey to become the top seller? What’s Dan Savage think? And what do the gays look like “on their way to carl nassib’s instagram?” Page 2 –> View the full article

The system is hiding the ranks for now while the recount is in progress. I posted details about this at: The system is parsing through hundreds of millions of posts, reactions, and actions.... so far @Lucky is in the lead of 23,877 points (enough for Grand Master).

With the newest version of Invision Community that was applied this morning, there is a new feature that replaces ranks with what is called Achievements. As you perform certain types of activities on the site, you earn "points". These build on the old rank system where points can be awarded for more things than just new posts. Points An example of points being awarded: Content Item Followed = 2 points Following a Member = 2 points Node (forum, album, etc) Followed = 2 points Content Item Posted = 10 points Comment/Reply Posted = 5 points Reaction Given = 1 point (for person given and a separate point for the person recieving) Based on the number of points that are received, this determines a person's "rank". Rank Newbie = 0 points Rookie = 40 points Apprentice = 90 points Explorer = 185 points Contributor = 250 points Enthusiast = 400 points Collaborator = 800 points Community Regular = 1,300 points Rising Star = 1,950 points Proficient = 2,600 points Experienced = 3,900 points Mentor = 5,200 points Veteran = 9,100 points Grand Master = 13,000 points Achievements Outside of ranks, when certain activities happen, the system will recognize it and award a badge noting it as a personal milestone. We can define new badges, but some of the default ones that exist include: First Post - 1 comment/reply Collaborator - 10 comments/replies Posting Machine - 500 comments/replies Well Followed - 10 people follow you Conversation Starter - 1 new topic posted Reacting Well - 5 new reactions received Very Popular - 100 new reactions received One Week Done - Been a member of the site for 7 days Dedicated - Signed into the site for 7 consecutive days One Month Later - Been a member of the site for 30 days One Year In - Been a member of the site for 365 days The system is in the process of calculating everyone's ranks, achievements, points, etc. There are literally hundreds of millions of records to process. It's about 2% done, so everyone can enjoy being a newbie for a bit. The ranks will work themselves out as it parses everything. EDIT: While the system is regenerating this info, ranks and achievements have been set to hide during the recount. They'll automatically display again as soon as the counting finishes!

You're about to get more also. The new achievements system is counting badges and trophies in the background as I type this.
-
I was wondering who would be the first to notice this. I'm making a post about this in a bit. This happened earlier today with an upgrade that happened this morning. There is a new ranks/achievement system that was installed. It's recalculating everyone in the background.

Published by BANG Showbiz English The Emmy Awards have gone gender neutral. The Television Academy’s Board of Governors has confirmed that nominees in the Best Actress or Best Actor awards can choose to be called a “performer” rather than an actor or an actress when the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards take place in September this year. They said in a statement on their website: “No performer category titled “Actor” or “Actress” has ever had a gender requirement for submissions. Now, nominees and (or) winners in any performer category titled “Actor” or “Actress” may request that their nomination certificate and Emmy statuette carry the term “Performer” in place of Actor or Actress.” At the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, ‘Schitt’s Creek’ swept the board, taking home all seven awards in the comedy categories including the prestigious Outstanding Comedy Series accolade, for which it was shortlisted alongside ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, ‘Dead to Me’, ‘The Good Place’, ‘Insecure’, ‘The Kominsky Method’, ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ and ‘What We Do in the Shadows’. There were wins in the Lead Actor and Actress in a comedy series categories for co-creator Eugenie Levy and Catherine O’Hara, and in the Supporting Actor and Actress categories for Dan Levy – who also won for writing and directing – and Annie Murphy. Accepting his acting prize, his third of the evening, Dan quipped: “Come on! Oh no! OK, the internet’s about to turn on me. I’m so sorry.” Other winner at the times included ‘Euphoria’ star Zendaya for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Mark Ruffalo, who took Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his work on ‘I Know This Much Is True’, and Billy Crudup and Julia Garner, who took the Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress in a Drama Series honours respectively for ‘The Morning Show’ and ‘Ozark’. Biden trans track record continues as it reverses more Trump-era restrictions. Under Biden trans military members and veterans, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced Saturday that it will offer gender-affirming surgeries for trans veterans, a first in the history of the VA. “[This is] allowing transgender vets to go through the full gender confirmation process with VA by their side,” Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough said during a Pride event at the Orlando VA Healthcare System. “We’re making these changes not only because they are the right thing to do, but because they can save lives.” McDonough stated that his office will begin a two-year process to provide proper training on performing gender-affirming surgeries to VA facilities. “This time will allow VA to develop capacity to meet the surgical needs that transgender veterans have called for and deserved for a long time, and I am proud to begin the process of delivering it,” McDonough said. Veterans in need of gender confirmation surgery should not have to seek healthcare outside of the VA health system Rep. Mark Takano The decision falls in line with changes enacted since President Joe Biden took office focused on being more inclusive to trans military members and veterans. Biden signed an executive order in January repealing President Donald Trump’s ban on trans members of the military serving openly as their assigned gender. The Veterans Health Administration also announced it will rename its LGBT health program to the LGBTQ+ health program in an effort to “reflect new community standards of inclusiveness and anticipate future changes in terms.” “At VA, we’re doing everything in our power to show veterans of all sexual orientations and gender identities that they can talk openly, honestly and comfortably with their health care providers about any issues they may be experiencing,” McDonough said. House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Mark Takano, the first out gay person of color elected to Congress, celebrated McDonough’s announcement, saying, “Veterans in need of gender confirmation surgery should not have to seek healthcare outside of the VA health system or navigate complicated processes to get the care they need … VA must be inclusive of all veterans who have served, regardless of their identity.” The VA estimates that with the change to Biden, trans veterans, roughly 4,000 of them, will be interested in utilizing the program Trans team to obtain gender-affirming surgeries despite the National Center for Transgender Equality estimates that upwards of 134,000 trans military veterans reside in the U.S. currently.
