Published by DPA International After a year of hardship — shootings, war and uncertainty regarding artificial intelligence — the Pantone Color Institute has announced that Peach Fuzz, a warm and fuzzy hue between pink and orange, is the Color of the Year for 2024. Looking back at 2023, you can't help but wonder if one of Pantone's most popular colours this year — no, not Viva Magenta, the official Color of the Year, but PMS 219C (commonly referred to as Barbie Pink) — influenced Pantone's choice, which was announced Thursday. In an interview last week about 2024's choice colour, Laurie Pressman, vice president of Pantone, d… Read More View the full article

I’ve also done some banning of email domains since a bunch of accounts used 6 different weird domains. I’ve gone through all accounts created today and banned a few that had not posted yet but were showing up like the others.

That does not stop the spam. It just means the posts are still there for a moderator to clean up that you don’t see. The moderators have an “easy” button that lets them flag a user as a spammer. With a click, anything they’ve ever posted is removed, their profile is scrubbed, and the account banned. Each post does not need reported. A single report per user is enough so they can be removed.

Pay to be humiliated at Japan's "Rude Restaurant"
RadioRob replied to Ali Gator's topic in The Lounge
This sounds somewhat like Dick's Last Resort. I was with a group in Vegas with a group of people and when the waiter came over to the table, he said "Oh hell no... ya'll aren't about to work me like this!" He made us get up and marched us over to make our own drinks. They would throw napkins or straws at patrons.... and at the end, they made us paper hats with insults on them. I had never laughed so hard at dinner before.... it was a ton of fun. Wait staff were very witty and you could tell they loved the job. -

Published by The Detroit News Sure it's a concert film, but it's so much more than that: “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” is a startlingly intimate portrait of the 42-year-old singer, cultural icon and singular force of nature, capturing her during and behind the scenes of her 2023 Renaissance World Tour. The concert footage is remarkable, much of the movements performed directly into cameras, giving viewers an onstage view of the action and the lavish costumes worn by Beyoncé and her dancers. But it's that behind the scenes footage, the offstage moments, where “Renaissance” truly shines. Beyoncé is typically a very guarde… Read More View the full article

Published by The Sacramento Bee Abraham Lincoln vs. Stephen Douglas it was not. Thursday night's debate between two of America's best-known governors — Democrat Gavin Newsom of California and Florida Republican Ron DeSantis — was intended to be a prime-time look at the sharp red-blue political divide in this nation. But host Sean Hannity and Fox News executives set up the questions for issues that painted California, and by extension Newsom, in the worst way. Given that he had to play defense throughout, Newsom carried himself well, calling out hypocrisy and inaction by DeSantis and Republicans. He rightfully pointed out Cal… Read More View the full article

Published by Reuters WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Here are reactions to the death of retired Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, the first woman on the U.S. Supreme Court, whose centrist views and shrewd negotiating skills allowed her to steer the nation's law for much of her quarter-century tenure: FORMER PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA “When a young Sandra Day graduated from Stanford Law School near the top of her class – in two years instead of the usual three – she was offered just one job in the private sector. Her prospective employer asked her how well she typed and told her there might be work for her as a legal secretary. “For… Read More View the full article

The Catholic church's activist pastor has for years opened its doors and spacious nave to the homeless or otherwise marginal… Read More View the full article

With near-hits on the rise do you feel safe flying?
RadioRob replied to marylander1940's topic in The Lounge
I fly several times a month and feel safer in a plane than I do on a car, bus, train, etc. I do dislike needing to devote a good chunk of the day to flying (getting to the airport, TSA, being there early enough to not be worried, boarding, waiting, air time, getting through destination airport and travel to destination). BUT… while it may burn most of my day, I absolutely feel safe. While a control may fail, there are many various layered controls that make those near misses stay as near misses. -

Published by Reuters MOSCOW (Reuters) -Russia's Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that LGBT activists should be designated as “extremists”, in a move that representatives of gay and transgender people fear will lead to arrests and prosecutions. The presiding judge announced that he had endorsed a request from the justice ministry to ban what it called “the international LGBT social movement”. The move is part of a pattern of increasing restrictions in Russia on expressions of sexual orientation and gender identity, including laws outlawing the promotion of “non-traditional” sexual relations and banning legal or medi… Read More View the full article

He was shocked to find out Santos allegedly diverted the cash for his own personal expenses as outlined in an Ethics Committee report. “He stole $5,800 from me,” said Eisen, 51, who lives in Harrison, NY. “He spent it on Botox and everything else.” “He's not a normal du… Read More View the full article

Also the reason it did not show is because I have to manually remember to add holidays that don’t have a “fixed” day. The IPB calendar does not have a concept of “1st Tuesday of the Month” for recurring events. So events with a fixed day (Oct 31st, Dec 25th, Jan 1st, Feb 14th) are easy to “set and forget” but ones that can happen on different days are dependent on me remembering to go in each year and adding it. Unfortunately my mind is not quite what it was earlier in life! So nothing sinister… just a faulty brain.
