They do. But it's not completely infallible; there's still a lag, and that lag is when someone who has recently seroconverted is going to have a high viral load. Not being able to monitor what someone does outside of porn is a risk factor. That includes monitoring their risk reduction practices (Truvada, condom usage).

I think it's useless unless nothing sexual happens or until the hiring community stops complaining they didn't get what they paid for if expectations aren't met. Non-street based escorting by adult men doesn't seem to be a LEO priority, with exceptions when some other crime is committed, like extortion or murder.

Rather it's a shortcoming of the reviewer.

I don't discern that from the above quote. Perhaps I missed something in my review? You have minimized and qualified the seriousness and import of the charges throughout this thread, including in your first post quoted above.

It's a harsh crowd because people have been given passes they don't deserve and because there's far more hagiography than truth. You're entitled to balance that however you want to, but it's unreasonable to argue serious, credible accusations weren't willfully ignored or fended off with money, which is the most sickening part for me.

It's what I'll remember him for because he should not have had that long, storied career.

Age of consent in New York is 17. In many states it's 18. 16 is the age of consent in a decided minority of states. I'm surprised you didn't check yourself before lecturing.

That was abuse. It's great it didn't harm you, but that doesn't make it right or less damaging to others. I am glad this is finally being addressed. I expressed the opinion that Levine was wrongly treated as untouchable for this before and heard crickets. There are enough accusations that ambiguity over one relationship doesn't matter. Moreover, that relationship was abusive and inappropriate from the beginning. To argue that continuation absolves the original offense is wrong. It's like negating LeTourneau's rape conviction because her former student later married her. That this was an open secret should have tipped people off. In every instance I'm aware of, that's meant abuse has been allowed to go on as a cost of talent or genius or a result of power, as if there aren't other talented people and no loss of talent from recipients of abuse.

So sick of seeing bad tattoos
+ quoththeraven replied to Derrick Rigg's topic in Questions About Hiring
I would never get one because they're unregulated and unsafe, but aesthetics are largely subjective and people with tattoos have already factored in that some people might be averse to them. To complain that someone else has done something with his body that interferes with your appreciation of it seems to miss the point. -
Without even reading all of the thread, this is for those of you concerned about process and false allegations. "But yesterday, I was asked to write that I do not believe in due process. I was asked to write that I believe we should just immediately fire all men accused of sexual harassment. I was asked to write that if a few men are harmed to protect women, it’s worth it. As if that’s a real threat. As if that’s a valid fear. As if, in this world, a power shift of that magnitude is even within the realm of possibility. As if a lack of due process wouldn’t first come for women, trans people, and people of color. As if due process isn’t the one thing so many men and their enablers in this society are working so hard to avoid. Yesterday, I was asked to write that if a few men are harmed to protect women, it’s worth it. As if that’s a real threat. And all I could say was, “No, no I can’t.” And even in that, in my financial ability to say no and risk burning that bridge, I’m one of the lucky ones.... How manipulated this broader, international conversation on sexual harassment has been in order to so quickly shift the conversation to protecting men from the consequences of their actions, before the names of the women they’ve harmed are even known? I can’t help but look at the profession I’ve chosen and love and wonder how much of it, like every other job I’ve found myself in since I was a teenager, is actively working to harm women and protect those who harm women? How often are we manipulated into prioritizing the abuser over the abused? How often are we being suckered into a side of a debate that we shouldn’t even be having? How often are we manipulated into prioritizing the abuser over the abused? These last two days, I was able to see one of the ways that this manipulation works in a shockingly brazen display. I don’t know if it’s because they had so little respect for my work or my intellect, or for my integrity — or if they just thought that as a feminist I’d jump at the chance to flush “due process” down the toilet. How often is this happening in ways that we aren’t able to so easily see? I hope to be able to continue to write in a way that focuses on those harmed by abuses of power and privilege. I hope to continue to write with integrity and honesty. And I hope that we all can try to read with the same focus and the same integrity. And that we can all work together to be more aware of how we are being manipulated and distracted and misrepresented and shamed into believing that we do not deserve to be centered in conversations on our oppression. That we do not deserve to be heard. That we do not deserve justice. That we do not deserve “due process.” Due process is long overdue." https://theestablishment.co/due-process-is-needed-for-sexual-harassment-accusations-but-for-whom-968e7c81e6d6

David Cassidy, 'Partridge Family' superstar, in critical condition
+ quoththeraven replied to + Avalon's topic in The Lounge
The Partridge Family was part of my childhood. Sad to hear of his death and previous health problems. -
Remember East Asians often look younger than their age.

I used a reseller to purchase a ticket to a sold-out concert and I held my breath until my ticket was scanned. I would have been seriously bummed out if the ticket wasn't legitimate.

Charles Manson has died of Natural Causes
+ quoththeraven replied to + WilliamM's topic in The Lounge
It occurred to me later that Manson would be in solitary confinement, making this whole discussion moot. -

I can't stand Branagh. I'll stick to the classic, thanks. -

Good luck drawing that line. -
Is attendance at the ceremony mandatory? I understand it's highly desirable, but if it's mandatory, that's a de facto health policy, not just a requirement that the prizewinner still be alive.

Why Do Women Date Men Who Have Sex With Other Men
+ quoththeraven replied to + Avalon's topic in The Lounge
I would categorize many of these men as bisexual. Not all women are looking for commitment or monogamy. For the same reason some men date guys who have sex with other men or have sex with women. -
Cohen was alive when Dylan was named. I would have been much happier with Cohen as the honoree.

What other constitutional rights are you ready to do without besides the right to a fair trial and due process?
