Maybe I should be ashamed to admit it, but I have a soft spot for Ryan. I was predisposed to not like him after the Olympics 4 years ago, but then I watched his short-lived reality TV show. I found out that he was both the relatively immature, frat-boy party animal that was his public persona and a young man who cared about his family and friends and who actually treated the women he was dating with respect. I was expecting him to be just a dumb jock whose only purpose outside of sports was to get laid, but he came across as a nice, thoughtful guy. Not the brightest bulb in the bunch, but not stupid, either. I know -- reality TV isn't reality, so I don't know what he's like in real life. I'm not excusing lying about being robbed, but I do think the truth is probably somewhere in the middle of the swimmers' stories and those being put forth by the Brazilians involved in the incident.

Take it for what it is, improve where you can, make your money.
Keep the reality in sight at all times, even if you entertain their fantasies.
 
Criticisms, even unpolished, crass or monosyllabic, can still be helpful to you because you can glean areas that need your attention.
I heard this quote, "Assholes are the best at telling you hard truths. They don't care about your feelings and will not filter."
 
I've used criticisms that are not 'nice' and turned them into building materials for improvement.
Because the worst thing that can happen to you as a businessman is to fail at your efforts and no one
speak up about WHY you are not succeeding.
 
For instance, the most common insult I have heard is that I have a 'Frankenstein head.'
It's large and square and long. So I used that to adjust my hair style and angles of my photos to turn
the flaw into an asset.
 
Also, here was the unexpected lesson of criticisms. Men challenge each other.
Biological imperative for dominance and social hierarchy.
If they can upset you, then you have submitted to them.
 
By handling criticism with polish, self composure and temperance, you automatically
increase your value as an escort and a human being in their eyes.
 
Because you can handle small things (their fickle thoughts and feelings) and
still take charge confidently. They don't understand why you're confident,
but it will still impress them.

An odd thing to attack Bieber about. I wouldn't go barefoot in an urban area due to concern about broken glass or other hazards, but worrying about spit or poo? Didn't y'all go barefoot in the summers where you lived? It isn't like such things don't exist in the country as well.

I like the idea of Shock being in a porn video, but he's too much of a pretty boy for Titan. He'd be better in a scene produced by Sean Cody or Corbin Fisher.

You'd be surprised. I hired a guy once who not only freaked out when a little bit of "shit happened," but he got in the shower without telling me what he was doing and eventually came out of his bathroom (perhaps 10 minutes later) fully clothed. At this point, we were probably only half way into our scheduled session. I asked him to return to bed and he said he could do that because the mood was totally killed. I wasn't too pleased (and I was also embarrassed), but what came next was the real shocker: He expected me to pay him for the full hour even though we had spent, at most, 15 minutes or so being intimate. I told him that under the circumstances, I certainly wasn't going to pay him for the full hour. I paid him half (still more than I thought he deserved) and left. I could tell he was angry, but so was I. His reaction was just so over-the-top from my perspective. One would have thought that I defecated all over his bedroom.

Really? I think the Sean Cody guy who had already extorted a lot of money out of Burns and then was trying to blackmail him for more wasn't railroaded. His greed was just excessive. I haven't seen any allegations that Burns did anything beyond hiring young men for sex. Yes, that isn't legal. But the guys he was hiring were willing partners in those transactions. There were no allegations that he was kidnapping anyone or through some other means forcing them to do things they didn't want to do.

I don't understand going for gay for pay in general, but for the sake of argument I will write that I don't think it's fair to put all G4P pornstars in the same boat as someone accused of murder. It's also quite possible that someone could be murdered by a "kept boy" who is gay, and while I don't think anyone is going to find true love and devotion from a guy who identifies as straight, I assume that most of the time the straight guys just take what they can get and then move on. It takes a special kind of evil to purposefully kill someone hoping to inherit all of his assets.

I enjoyed this show when it was on and I still find it funny when I happen to see it today. Don't forget that while Billy Crystal's character was stereotypical, his football player boyfriend Dennis (played by Bob Seagren) wasn't stereotypical and was handsome, too. Too bad that character didn't last very long.

Oh, I should add that even though I knew I was gay and I loved this show, I didn't so much care about the Jodie Dallas character. The best part of this show was the character Jessica Tate, played by Katherine Helmond. Very funny and very touching at the same time.
