If my recollection is correct, Luca Guadagnino said he found Vanda Capriolo in Crema during pre-production and cast her for Mafalda due to her personality, even though her acting experience was practically non-existent! Of course, there is also the author of the original novel "Call Me By Your Name" André Aciman, who portrays the shorter of the gay couple both Elio and his mother call "Sonny and Cher" in the film. Luca said since the novelist was nearly always on set during filming, why not? I think for his little cameo, he fits right in! TruHart1

The excellent gay-themed film, "Beautiful Thing" which takes place in a London suburb (Thamesmead South) where the thick accent took me quite a while to begin to actually understand. I saw it a couple of times before it became available on DVD. I made certain when I purchased my DVD copy that it had the option for English captions for the hard of hearing, even though I am not hard of hearing! Since then, I have enjoyed watching it many times! Additionally, one of my favorite French films, "La Belle et la Bête" a great 1946 film version of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, by the amazing gay film maker Jean Cocteau, has always been watched by me with English subtitles. I have no problem with subtitles but I once spent almost 45 minutes convincing one of my best friends to attend a showing of this film at a local Art Film Theatre because he balked at having to read the subtitles and watch the movie simultaneously. Long story short: he apologized later and told me the film was indeed one of the best he'd ever seen! TruHart1

Exactly! In Paul's first season, he dragged Nicole along to final two, thinking that he could beat her with the jury. Wrong! They voted her as Big Brother winner over Paul, making him first runner up in both season 18 and season 19, two seasons in a row! TruHart1

Take my word, @Corporate Shill, if you'd tried watching Josh's season, you'd likely tire of it very quickly. Paul, the only returning player, got everyone to follow him and each and every time one of them went against him, they were the next houseguest voted out! No one (except perhaps Jessica and Cody) even tried to play the game! He got everyone out until they were down to the final three, Christmas, Josh and himself, believing he could get the jury vote over either of the other two. Surprise Paul! Once the jury members compared notes, their votes were directed at making Paul the loser over Josh. So it was not so much that Josh won, but that Paul lost. I truly believe that if Christmas (who was on crutches after an accidental injury sustained early in the game, so unable to participate in many of the competitions) had been sitting with Paul in the final two instead of Josh, she would have been the winner! In my group of FWB, we call that spear fantasy flip-f**king! He uses that natural spear he's got sticking out of his loincloth on me and then I use my own rock-hard spear on him, so we both enjoy the spear-f**king and spear-stabbing pretty equally until we both shoot buckets!!! LOL! TruHart1

Since this so-called "Celebrity" edition only lasts 2½ weeks, I think I can manage watching Omarosa 4 nights a week until her ass gets sent out that BB House door!!! If they were going to have an All-Stars, all winner edition of Big Brother, I'd much rather see a full 3 month version of that show, myself! Having watched a couple of UK "Celebrity" Big Brothers in the past five years, almost all the contestants have been washed up media personalities with a few exposure seeking younger, wanna-be celebs trying for media coverage thrown in now and then. Not much different than what this first U.S. version has for us!!! TruHart1

You bring up an interesting point, @OCClient, in that in the film (NOT the book!) there are various political discussions about the Italian government in 1983, but only peripherally; in the kitchen when Mafalda and her friends are cooking as Elio runs through, certainly at the table when Signor and Signorina "Talk fast and steamroll the conversation" are discussing politics and Luis Buñuel, achieving nothing but boredom in everyone else, and even the reference to a poster at the home of the older woman who gives Elio and Oliver each a glass of water, when Oliver sees a poster above her door about "Il Duce" (Mussolini!) These political discussions/references are in the background and given absolutely no real emphasis in the film, except in passing. They seem to be a part of the setting, just like the dance music (when Elio's friends are ooh-ing and ah-ing over Oliver and Chiara kissing on the dance floor!) and the pop music on the radio. So, if politics is referenced in the sequel(s), it will (hopefully) only be used to give a feel of time and place as it is in CMBYN. TruHart1

Team cody was practically neck and neck with team Well-Strung who were right behind them and were the only team left, so they really had no choice but to use the U-Turn on them. If I were on TAR, in the same position as Team Cody, I'd have to do the same thing to team Well-Strung. I am so sorry when gorgeous eye candy like Trevor and Chris get eliminated, but if you are trying to survive/hopefully win the race, you have no choice when it's down to you or them. At least this group of teams isn't mean, though it might have been more even or more exciting for say, team Ocean Rescue - Lucas & Brittany (not sure if Jessica left Brittany's gnome back on purpose!) to U-Turn team Cody earlier, before they U-Turned Trevor and Chris!
