I've used them a few times with very mixed results. That could be as much the boys fault as the service. I've my eye on Calvin and Noah from Chicago listed on their site if anyone has met one or the other and has something to share.

There is a grit to our fair city, but we New Orleans' natives may disagree a bit on characterizing our city as a dump. Get out of the Quarter - no one from NOLA really ever goes to the Vieux Carre except for the odd special occasion - sort of like visiting a zoo to see drunk tourist. Visit the Faubourg Marigny, along some of the side streets to Frenchman Street you will find some of the best jazz clubs in the world. Some of the best restaurants in the US are in the Lower Garden district and two or three have opened in the Warehouse District have appeared in a couple of national food magazines. Take the street car to Audubon Park and then take a stroll through Tulane on a nice sunny day and take in all the gorgeous boys..... NOLA has a lot to offer. Escorts, not so much. Grindr, however......

one of the great cities of the US.....I hope I'm one of the ones who "gets" it, as @corndog hopes for!......

yeah, wander the French Quarter and see what there is to see there, just to say you did, then get yourself off the tourist track......

fairly recently took a very good walking tour organized, I think?, out of a visitor center/book store/gift shop ??? in the historic Pontalba Apartments building.....the very savvy and hip guide said (to the entire group) do NOT go to Cafe du Monde and, instead, suggested an entirely local, small cafe for coffee and sweets around the corner and up the street (he did not get a commission).....though it was in the heart of the FQ, I even spied a few locals in the joint!.....later, walking by the Cafe du Monde, I was relieved I didn't brave the line of starry-eyed tourists and harried staff.....even the "secret" side window for ordering was jammed....the guide also cautioned us on the correct way to pronounce Chartres, Esplanade, and "praline" and, of course, suggested the best spot to buy some

visitors should not expect a pristine, wealthy, clean, utterly charming experience in NOLA.....I like to experience the real thing when I travel and the often poorly-maintained roads, the sometimes confusing intersections and signage, the average airport, and the general state of "faded grandeur" are just what I like about NOLA....

I deliberately walked out of the "safety" of the FQ and into the Marigny and Treme-Lafitte neighborhoods one time.....instant reality check....no silly bars or hawkers, no home tours with "period furniture" reproductions, only real people and houses.....I heard some lively jazz music in the distance a few blocks and wandered toward it....boom! one of those classic NOLA funerals like we only see in the movies....nice!......

drive thru the Lower Ninth Ward.......walk a nice path in City Park to Lake Pontchartrain (wow, that's an ocean)......

turn right when the guidebook says left

The Lucky Horseshoe....I've tried it out twice and honestly I've never been so bored in my life. A couple of hot guys, but they were all busy visiting with either friends or I assume guys they thought they could make easy money with. A girl walked in and that occupied three of them. One dancer almost moving on the platform (I was starting to wonder if we should have checked him for a pulse). Maybe if the guys actually danced or worked the crowd a little it would be worth a stop in here. Even making eye contact and trying to be friendly was useless. I left with all the money I walked in with with...minus the costs of a couple of drinks. Not going for a third try. If I want to spend a lot for a drink and stare at cute guys off in the distance, I can just go to Starbucks.

    You are welcome.

PS: If you have time, check out some of the non-gay centric venues Chicago has to offer. Millennium Park downtown is not to be missed. The Cloudgate sculpture is breathtaking as are the gardens, which might not be in bloom when you visit given that Chicago has distinct seasons and Autumn is upon us. A stroll down Michigan Avenue is always fun and the Chicago River architectural tours are great ways to relax and sightsee. Try to grab a cocktail at the bar at the top of the John Hancock building. For the price of a drink you can get a 360 view of Chicago and Lake Michigan from the 94th floor. The drinks are a bit overpriced, but they are less expensive than the observatory a few floors up. IMO, the view from the Hancock is superior to that of the Willis (Sears) Tower Skydeck. I also recommend visiting the Art Institute's Modern Wing and walking around the Loop to soak in the architecture and the city's character. Lastly, (well not lastly, as there are dozens of things to do) a great way to see the North Side is from a Brown Line 'L' train. You can catch it on the Loop 'L' and ride it up to Belmont (it goes further, but Belmont is one of Boystown's main streets). Some great vistas of great architecture.
